Sioux City 3, Winnipeg 2 (11 innings)- Box

The Explorers broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the 11th and held on for a 3-2 win over the Goldeyes. CF Tim Colwell drew a leadoff walk and took second on an error for Sioux City. He scored on an RBI single by 3B Tommy Mendonca. Mendonca was no stranger to heroics in the game, as he hit a solo home run in the ninth just to force the game to extra innings. Sioux City’s first run scored in the seventh, when 1B Ralph Henriquez singled home Colwell.

Mendonca was the only Explorer with two hits, notching two of his team’s five hits on the day. RHP Rob Wort struck out six over three perfect innings of relief to pick up the win for the Explorers.

For Winnipeg, 2B Casio Grider hit his 11th home run of the season in the loss. 

Kansas City 5, Gary SouthShore 1- Box

The T-Bones scored all of their runs in the fifth through seventh innings and took a 5-1 win over the RailCats. 3B Ryan Retz opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the fifth, while LF Tyson Gillies drove in another run on an RBI triple an inning later. Gillies would score on an RBI single by SS Vladimir Frias. 2B Brett Wiley notched an RBI double in the seventh, and scored himself on an RBI single by DH Anthony Gallas.

Gallas led the T-Bones with three hits, part of a 14-hit day for the team. RHP Jared Messer struck out three over six innings to earn the win for the T-Bones.

C Jaime Del Valle had two hits for Gary SouthShore in the loss.

Fargo-Moorhead 12, Sioux Falls 5- Box

The RedHawks scored 12 runs in the span of four innings from the third through the sixth and raced past the Canaries 12-5. 3B Josh Mazzola and 1B Dustin Geiger each hit two-run home runs in a six-run third for Fargo-Moorhead. C Ryan Wagner hit a solo shot in the fourth, and drove in another run on an RBI single as part of a two-run fifth. Mazzola knocked in another run on a sixth-inning RBI single, while DH K.D. Kang drove in a pair on a two-RBI double later in the frame, capping off the scoring.

Wagner had a three-hit game for the RedHawks, while Mazzola, Geiger and 2B Ryan Pineda had two hits each.

LHP Will Solomon twirled a complete game for Fargo-Moorhead, striking out four and picking up the win.

2B B.J. Guinn notched three hits for the Canaries.

Wichita 16, Texas 0- Box

The Wingnuts rolled past the AirHogs 16-0 behind a whopping 23 hits. Wichita scored in six of their eight offensive innings, highlighted by a six-run sixth. 1B Matt Chavez hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the second inning, the first of two home runs on the day for him, as he also had a two-run homer in the sixth. Chavez finished 4-for-6, just a triple shy of the cycle. He drove in five runs on the day. Five different Wingnuts collected three hits on the day, including 3B Zack Cox, who notched four RBI.

RHP Alex Boshers allowed just four hits and no walks over seven shutout innings. He struck out four en route to picking up the win.

LF Leon Byrd hit his ninth double of the year for the AirHogs in the loss.
