DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs RHP Kevin McGovern (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 20.
McGovern, who recently joined the Saltdogs, made his second start in a Lincoln uniform on Wednesday. In an interleague contest against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, McGovern threw a complete game shutout as Lincoln rolled 5-0. The Philadelphia resident scattered six hits and walk while striking out seven.
McGovern now has an ERA of 2.57 in two games, his first two in the American Association. The former Philadelphia University player has previously played professionally in the Frontier League.
The Saltdogs return home to Haymarket Park on Tuesday to host the Amarillo Sox at 7:05 p.m. Central time.
