DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Laredo Lemurs RHP Troy Marks (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending September 5.
Marks tossed 11 scoreless innings over a pair of starts this week. He earned a win in a 1-0 triumph over the Texas AirHogs on Monday, August 30, working six frames while allowing just one hit and two walks. Marks fanned 11 in the effort. He returned to the mound on Monday, September 5 to face the Wichita Wingnuts. Over five shutout innings, Marks scattered six hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out six, and the Lemurs won 3-0.
Marks finishes his 2016 season 8-4 with a 3.83 ERA. Over 24 games (16 starts), he struck out 94 over 98.2 innings, while walking just 34. Laredo concluded the 2016 regular season 57-42.
A third-year pro, Marks spent 2015 in the Arizona Diamondbacks system. He appeared with five different affiliates, from the Short Season Class A Hillsboro (Ore.) Hops to the Class AAA Reno Aces. He was 2-1 with a 3.10 ERA over 26 appearances and seven starts with the five teams.
