LEMURS SHUTOUT AIRHOGS IN FRONT OF HUGE CROWD

Laredo 12, Texas 0 – Box

In front of an overcapacity crowd of 6,160 at Uni-Trade Stadium, Laredo rolled out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play and would cruise to a 12-0 victory over the Texas AirHogs. The Lemurs banged out 22 hits in the contest with seven batters having multi-hit games. Laredo CF Drew Martinez went 4-for-6 on the night with three runs scored and a RBI. Lemurs C Zane Chavez had three hits, including two doubles, with four RBI and LF Leandro Castro went 5-for-6 with a home run. Laredo starting pitcher Barret Loux tossed seven shutout innings en route to notching his second win. Loux allowed three hits and fanned nine batters.

Gary SouthShore 10, Sioux City 2 – Box

The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored five runs in the third inning to overcome an early deficit and roll to a 10-2 win over the Sioux City Explorers. Everyone in the Gary SouthShore lineup collected at least a hit with the team hammering out 14 in total. RailCats 1B Jeremy Hamilton had a 3-for-4 night at the plate with a walk, two RBI and three runs scored. Gary SouthShore 2B Elbert Devarie added two hits and two RBI while CF Joe Moroney plated two runs in a 1-for-4 outing. RaliCats starter Alex Gunn gave up an earned on three hits in seven innings of work to earn the win. Gunn is now 2-0 on the season. The contest was played in front of an overcapacity crowd of 4,248 at Lewis & Clark Park.

Lincoln 6, Fargo-Moorhead 5 (Game 2 – 7 Innings) – Box

Lincoln DH Curt Smith singled home CF Robby Kuzdale with the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Saltdogs beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 6-5. Lincoln completed the doubleheader sweep and has now won four straight. Kuzdale went 2-for-4 in the game with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Saltdogs RF Jon Smith added a two-run home run while SS Dainer Moreira had a 2-for-3 game with a run scored. Lincoln pitcher Brad Orosey tossed 2 2/3 shutout innings to notch the win. Orosey collected a strikeout and improved his mark to 2-1 on the season.

Kansas City 6, St. Paul 3 (Completion of Suspended Game from July 2) – Box

Kansas City plated the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and added two more insurance runs in the seventh as the T-Bones doubled up the St. Paul Saints, 6-3. Six Kansas City hitters had multi-hit games including SS Vladimir Frias who went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and four RBI. T-Bones 3B Jimmy Mojica collected three hits and a RBI while CF Tyler Massey had a pair of hits and plated two runs. Kansas City pitcher John Kovalik threw a scoreless sixth inning and picked-up the victory. Kovalik is now 1-0 on the season.

St. Paul 7, Kansas City 5 (Regularly Scheduled Game – 7 Innings) – Box

The St. Paul Saints scored two runs in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh to rally from a 5-4 deficit and beat the Kansas City T-Bones by a 7-5 final. St. Paul SS Tony Thomas had a perfect 3-for-3 night at the plate with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Saints C Maxx Garrett chipped in with a home run along with two RBI and two runs scored and LF Brady Burzynski collected a pair of hits in four at-bats. St. Paul hurler Caleb Thielbar threw two innings of relief and collected his third win of the of the year. Thielbar gave up two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

Wichita at Joplin (Postponed – Rain)

The game between Wichita and Joplin was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday, July 12 in Wichita.
