LEAGUE’S WINS LEADER LAMBSON EARNS PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes’ LHP Mitchell Lambson has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 18, 2019.

Lambson earned the award after allowing just two runs in 16 innings of work this past week. The lefty’s first start of the week was a two-hit complete game shutout of the St. Paul Saints in an 8-0 win on August 12. In the shutout, Lambson walked two and struck out nine. In his second start of the week, a 10-2 win over the Chicago Dogs, Lambson allowed two runs in seven innings of work, scattering five hits, walking five, and striking out seven.

The 29-year-old began his career in 2011 after being drafted in the 19th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. Lambson spent six seasons in affiliated-ball, making Triple-A stops in the Astros’, Braves’, and Brewers’ organizations. Lambson is now in his third season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes. At 12-2 Lambson currently leads the league in wins. He is also third in ERA (2.85) and first in strikeouts (117).
