Laredo 12, Lincoln 5 — Box Score
The Laredo Lemurs scored in six consecutive innings on their way to a 12-5 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs.
The Lemurs tallied 17 hits as all nine batters had at least one base hit in the ball game. Five of those batters, including the two through five hitters in the lineup, had multi-hit games. 3B Kevin Taylor, 2B Abel Nieves and CF Dvontrey Richardson (pictured) each had three hits to lead the way. Richardson along with 1B Tony Delmonico and C Luke Bailey each had homers in the game.
Lincoln scored four of their five runs all at once as 2B Ryan Lashley belted a grand slam in the third inning. That blast briefly gave the Saltdogs a 4-2 lead but Laredo responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame and led the rest of the way.
St. Paul 7, Grand Prairie 1 — Box Score
The St. Paul Saints put the game away with five runs in the top of the ninth inning and ended up beating the Grand Prairie AirHogs 7-1.
Both the Saints and the AirHogs put a run on the board in the first inning but the Saints took the lead with one more in the sixth inning. The five-run ninth put the game out of reach for St. Paul. Both RF Willie Argo and C Vince DeFazio homered for the Saints and DeFazio had a game-high three RBI. SS Steve Nikorak had a game high two hits. Seven of the nine Saints that had an at-bat in the game registered hits. For the AirHogs, both 1B Victor Diaz and RF Victor Ferrante had two hits and C Zane Chavez had the team’s lone RBI.
Starting pitcher Dustin Crenshaw earned the win for the Saints as he worked eight innings on the mound and allowed just one run on five hits while striking out five batters. Reliever Michael Zouzalik came on and shut the door in the ninth inning.
Fargo-Moorhead 6, Sioux Falls 3 — Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks racked up 16 hits as they took care of the Sioux Falls Canaries 6-3 on Monday night in Sioux Falls.
Nine different RedHawks had hits in the game and five of them had multi-hit games. Both 2B Frank Salerno and C Charlie Valerio had three hits for Fargo-Moorhead and CF Drew Muren, DH Stefan Gartrell and 1B Joe Staley each registered a pair of hits. Gatrell also had a pair of RBI.
The Canaries took the early lead with a run in the first inning but the RedHawks took the lead with three runs in the third. They added a run in the fourth and two more in the eighth. For the Canaries, CF Harrison Kain, SS Jerome Pena and 1B David Bergin had two-hit games.
Sioux City 7, Kansas City 4 — Box Score
The Sioux City Explorers took the lead with a pair of runs in the second inning and never trailed as they topped the Kansas City T-Bones 7-4.
2B Ryan Court knocked in DH Brock Kjeldgaard for the first run of the game and later in the inning C Matt Koch doubled to score SS Noah Perio. In the fourth, back-to-back singles from Koch and 3B Dillon Usiak scored a pair of runs and then Koch scored on an error to cap a three-run inning. Koch had a game-high three hits and went 3-for-3 with two RBI.
On the bump, starting pitcher Patrick Johnson was credited with the win as he went 7.1 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. Reliever Jimmer Kennedy earned the five-out save and allowed just one hit in the last 1.2 innings.
