Fargo-Moorhead 4, Gary SouthShore 3
Several late innings of scoring would put the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks just over the RailCats 4-3.
Starting pitcher Brian Ernst had a solid night, throwing six innings while allowing just two runs on four hits. Joe Harris would pick up the win for the RedHawks however, after one shutout inning of relief.
1B Keith Brachold would be the only RedHawks hitter to end the game with multiple hits. He went 2-4 with a homerun.
Quebec 9, Winnipeg 2
The Quebec Capitales went into the top of the ninth inning with a slim 3-2 lead over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. When three outs were finally recorded, the Capitales were feeling much better about their chances to hold onto the win, sitting with a seven run lead after scoring six.
The Goldeyes wouldn’t manage that kind of outburst in the bottom half and went on to lose 9-2.
Jeff Duda started for the Capitales and threw five innings while allowing just one run. Winning pitcher Kyle Regnault threw 1.2 innings of relief while striking out one batter and walking two.
CF Sebastien Boucher and DH Rene Leveret both recorded three hits on the night and combined for four RBIs and a run.
Amarillo 5, Sioux Falls 4
The Amarillo Sox were able to edge out the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-4 thanks to a three run eighth inning.
RF Chris Valencia and LF David Peralta had three hit games on the night. Valencia went 3-4 and scored a run while Peralta went 3-4 with two runs, three RBIs, and a homerun.
John Holdzkom would get the win after an inning of perfect relief.
Lincoln 3, Kansas City 1
The Saltdogs were able to ride a strong night from their pitchers to grab a 3-1 victory over the T-Bones.
Lincoln starter Moises Melendez had a great day, throwing 6.1 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out five. He would be robbed of the win after leaving with the game tied.
Teammate Eddie McKiernan would be credited with the win after his .2 innings of scoreless relief pitching.
Laredo 4, El Paso 1
El Paso was only able to put across one run in their 4-1 loss to the Lemurs.
Laredo starter and winning pitcher, Garrett Rau, had a great night on the mound. He worked around three walks and three hits to tally 5.1 shutout innings and set his team up for a victory.
Homeruns by LF John Allen and 2B Harrison Kain gave Rau and the Lemurs all the run support they would need. Allen ended the night 1-4, and Kain finished 1-3. The two together managed two runs and four RBIs.
Grand Prairie 5, Sioux City 2
Josh Strawn led the Grand Prairie AirHogs to a 5-2 victory over the Sioux City Explorers.
On a day with many good pitching performances across the league, Strawn has a case for the best, after throwing seven shutout innings and striking out 10 batters. He allowed just four hits in the outing and walked none.
At the plate, 1B Andrew Rodriguez and SS Ryan Pineda both had homeruns. Rodriguez was 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs while Pineda went 2-4 with one run and three RBIs. Pineda is hitting .348 on the season.
Wichita 11, St. Paul 4
The Wichita Wingnuts erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning to cap off their scoring and defeat the Saints 11-4.
On a day with several great pitching performances, Wichita will look at their hitters to thank for the win.
Five Wingnut batters would record multi-hit nights, with C Cole Armstrong leading the way. Armstrong hit his fourth homer of the season and went 2-4 with a run and three RBIs.
Josh Stone grabbed the win for Wichita after tossing a scoreless inning of relief. He gave up one hit, walked a batter, and struck out a batter in his appearance.
