COOPER’S SEVEN SHUTOUT INNINGS CARRY WINGNUTS PAST STOCKADE

Wichita 6, Salina 1 – Box

This game was never much in doubt, thanks to a fantastic starting pitching performance from RHP Jordan Cooper. Cooper pitched seven shutout frames to earn the win, allowing two hits and a walk and striking out five. He was provided with insurance runs in the fourth inning, thanks to a two-run single from C Zac Fisher, his second and third RBIs of the season. 3B TJ Mittelstaedt extended his RBI streak to four consecutive games, picking up his fifth RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

Fisher and RF Richard Prigatano each had multi-hit games, finishing with three and two hits respectively.

LF Roche Woodard picked up the lone RBI for the Stockade with a run-scoring double in the eighth inning.

RHP Joe Robinson was tagged with the loss, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned), three hits and four walks, while striking out five.

Cleburne 4, Winnipeg 3 (10 innings) – Box

It took extra innings to settle the game between the Goldeyes and Railroaders with the Railroaders eventually winning in walk-off fashion, thanks to a RBI single from RF Axel Johnson in his only at-bat. Johnson’s single plated 3B Brandon Tierney, who went 3-5 on the day to raise his average to .353.

LF Maikol Gonzalez and C Ermindo Escobar each added two hits for the Railroaders.

LHP Onas Farfan picked up the win in relief, pitching the final inning, striking out one in the process.

DH David Bergin, and SS Andrew Sohn each picked up a hit and a RBI in the loss.

RHP Victor Capellan earned the loss for the Goldeyes. Capellan pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits and walking one batter.

Lincoln 4, Kansas City 3 – Box

The Saltdogs scraped by the T-Bones, thanks to a three-run sixth inning. With the game tied at one in the sixth, 1B Trevor Adams drove in the first run of the inning with a RBI single. RF Randolph Oduber followed with a RBI single of his own and C Brent Dean blasted a RBI double for the third run of the inning. The T-Bones got two runs back in the eighth inning, thanks to RBIs from 1B Chase McDonald and 2B Brett Wiley, but were unable to secure a fourth run to tie the game.

RHP Robby Rowland earned his first victory of the season, going five strong innings, allowing a run on four hits and four walks and striking out five batters.

Dean and 3B Christian Ibarra each added two hits for the winning side.

RHP Josh Laxer pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his first save of the season.

RHP Chris Perry earned a no-decision for the T-Bones, going five strong innings, allowing a run on four hits, and striking out seven.

RHP Myles Smith earned the loss for the T-Bones, allowing four runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning pitched.

St Paul 4, Gary 0 (Game 1- 7 innings) –  Box

A three-run first inning paced the Saints as they raced out to a 3-0 lead early. LF Tim Colwell led off the game for his team with a solo home run. 1B Tony Thomas followed four batters later with a two-run homer to put the Saints up 3-0. RF Anthony Gallas knocked in the final run on an RBI single in the fourth.

RHP John Straka picked up the win, throwing five shutout innings, allowing four hits and three walks and striking out six.

RHP Seth Rosin pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save.

C Wilfredo Gimenez had a multi-hit game for the RailCats in the loss.

LHP Jeff McKenzie threw a complete game in the loss, throwing six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out four.

Sioux Falls 6, Sioux City 5 (10 innings) – Box

It only took one inning of extras for the Canaries to win it, walking off on a game-winning RBI single from 1B Chris Jacobs in the tenth. RF Michael Lang started the scoring for the Explorers in the first with a solo home run. 2B Nick Flair added to the home run total with a two-run shot of his own to make it 4-1 in the second. C Michael Falsetti hit a two-run shot for the Canaries in the fourth to make it a 4-3 game. The Explorers held a 5-4 lead in the ninth before LF Ty Morrison tied it with an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning. Then, Jacobs ended it in the tenth with a walk-off single.

CF Burt Reynolds, 3B Patrick Fiala, 2B B.J. Guinn Jr. and 1B Chris Jacobs all had multi-hit games in the win.

RHP Jose Ortega picked up the win in relief, pitching a perfect inning.

Lang, LF Jayce Ray, and SS Nate Samson each had two hits in the loss.

RHP PJ Francescon took the loss, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out two batters.
