Texas 2, Fargo-Moorhead 0 – Box

Starting pitcher Scott Firth and three relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Texas AirHogs defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 2-0. Firth tossed the first six innings of the contest and allowed all four hits including three walks while striking out four batters. The bullpen trio of Michael Freeman, T.J. Bozeman and Luis De La Cruz gave up only two walks and struck out five hitters over the final three innings of work. Firth notched the victory while De La Cruz picked up the save. Texas scored both of their runs in the third inning off RBIs from RF Denis Phipps and CF Jake Luce. Phipps went 3-for-4 on the night.

Gary SouthShore 10, St. Paul 3 (Game 2 – 7 Innings) – Box

Gary SouthShore scored five runs in the third inning to jump ahead 5-0 and would roll from there to a 10-3 win over St. Paul in game two of the doubleheader. The RailCats pounded out 14 hits in the contest with four players collecting multi-hit games. Gary SouthShore DH Frank Martinez went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI while 2B John Holland drove in a pair of runs and plated a run in a 1-for-3 game. RailCats pitcher Braulio Torres-Perez tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the win. Torres-Perez gave up a walk and two hits with three punchouts. For St. Paul in the loss, RF Danny Oh picked up three hits in four at-bats and drove in a run.
