The Lake Country DockHounds (9-7) edge out the Gary SouthShore RailCats (6-11) in game 1 of a Memorial Day double-header.
The DockHounds got the bats going early with 2 runs in the first thanks to a sacrifice fly RBI from SS Gabriel Noriega (1-for-2, 1 RBI) and an RBI single from 1B Gio Brusa (3-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI). The RailCats fought back with home runs from 1B Sam Abbott (1-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI) in the second and LF Zach Racusin (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI) in the sixth. The DockHounds took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh. RailCats RF Alec Olund doubled to give Gary SouthShore a chance, but RP Cyrillo Watson (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 SO) prevented any more hits and secured the save of game 1 of the double header.

Game 2 of the double-header was all DockHounds, Scoring 4 runs in the 2nd and 2 runs in the 6th. 2B Aaron Takacs batted in 2 runs in a 2-for-4 outing and LF Lamar Briggs went 1-for-2 with 1 R and 2 RBIs. SP Evan Kruczynski was dealing under the lights, going 5 innings and allowing no hits or runs with 7 strikeouts. The RailCats had 2 hits to account for thanks to 2B Michael Woodworth (1-for-3) and SS Daniel Lingua (1-for-2). The DockHounds and the RailCats will be back in action Wednesday, June 1st for the final game of the series at 6:45 p.m. at the Steel Yard.
