Fargo-Moorhead 4, Gary SouthShore 1
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks shut down the RailCats bats in their 4-1 victory. Gary SouthShore only managed six hits on the night.
Starting pitcher Brian Ernst picked up his third win after throwing 5.2 innings while allowing just four hits and one run. He also struck out two and walked four.
RF Tim Alberts led the RedHawks with a 2-4 night at the plate. He tripled and scored twice.
Quebec 3, Winnipeg 2
The Quebec Capitales got the best of the Winnipeg Goldeyes in an interleague pitcher’s dual, winning 3-2.
Quebec starter, Jeff Duda had a nice outing, throwing six innings and allowing just two runs on three strikeouts and three walks. Tim Griffin picked up the win after two innings of shutout relief pitching and Chris Cox picked 13th save of the season after his perfect ninth.
The Quebec offense only managed six hits on the night but it was just enough to come away with the win, thanks to the great pitching. 1B Royce Consigli had a good night at the plate, going 2-3 with a solo homerun.
Grand Prairie 1, St. Paul 0
The AirHogs only needed a single run in the bottom of the ninth inning to top the St. Paul Saints 1-0.
Jared Mortensen had a terrific start for Grand Prairie, throwing eight shutout innings while allowing five hits, striking out seven, and walking just one. However, he was denied the win because the AirHogs didn’t score until the last inning. Relief pitcher Patrick Mincey was credited with the win after throwing a perfect ninth inning.
3B Brandon Pinckney scored the only run in the final inning after 2B Ryan Pineda drove him in with a game-winning double.
Sioux Falls 3, Sioux City 1
The Sioux Falls Canaries scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth immediately after the Sioux City Explorers scored their only run in the top of the same inning to win 3-1.
That would be the only scoring of the entire game for both teams.
DH Tim Pahuta went 1-4 with a home run and two RBI’s for the Canaries while teammate and catcher Jake Taylor went 2-3 with a run and a walk.
Kyle Ruwe picked up his sixth win of the season after throwing 7.1 innings while letting up just one run. Ruwe gave up six hits while striking out two and walking none.
El Paso 4, Laredo 3
Back-to-back two-run innings would be enough for the El Paso Diablos to top the Laredo Lemurs 4-3.
SS Maikol Gonzalez and RF Rogelio Noris both had two hits in the game to lead the Diablos. Gonzalez and C Moises Montero both homered.
The winning pitcher for the Diablos was Kevin Cooper, who threw seven innings and gave up three runs while striking out four batters and walking one.
Amarillo 4, Lincoln 2
The Amarillo Sox jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back to defeat the Lincoln Saltdogs 4-2.
Five Sox players had multi-hit games. DH Austin Gallagher went 3-4 including a double and an RBI, while 2B Adam De La Garza went 2-4 and scored two runs.
Kristhiam Linares threw 5.1 innings and struck out seven batters to pick up the win for Amarillo. He let up just six hits and two runs while walking a single batter.
Wichita 4, Kansas City 2
The T-Bones scored twice in the fifth inning but that would be all, as the Wichita Wingnuts would go on to win 4-2. The Wingnuts scored three runs in the top of the sixth and once again in the eighth inning to cap off the scoring and ensure the victory.
Wichita starter Junior Guerra recorded his sixth win of the year after throwing seven innings while allowing just two hits and two runs. He also struck out nine batters and walked three.
DH John Rodriguez had a great night at the plate going 2-3 including a walk and two runs scored.
