Winnipeg 12, Sioux City 0 – Box

It was all Winnipeg in this contest as the Goldeyes jumped out to a 6-0 lead after an inning of play and cruised to a 12-0 victory over the Sioux City Explorers. Winnipeg collected 15 hits as a team with five batters having multi-hit games. Goldeyes 2B Mason Katz led the way going 2-for-3 with two home runs, two runs scored and four RBI. Winnipeg leadoff hitter Andrew Sohn added three hits in five at-bats, including a home run, and plated two runs while DH David Bergin launched a first inning grand slam. In total, the Goldeyes hit five home runs in the contest. Winnipeg starting pitcher Kevin McGovern threw seven strong innings in earning his seventh victory of the season. McGovern gave up two walks and three hits to along with seven strikeouts. With the victory, the Goldeyes complete the three-game sweep of Sioux City.

Lincoln 9, Salina 0 – Box

With the game scoreless through two innings of play, the Lincoln Saltdogs took full control scoring nine runs over the next four and rolling to a 9-0 victory over the Salina Stockade. Lincoln had nine hits in the contest and was led by C Dashenko Ricardo who went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI. Saltdogs leadoff hitter Christian Ibarra walked twice, drove in two runs and scored once while 3B Joe Robbins added a pair of hits and tallied a run. Lincoln starting pitcher Derek Gordon had a terrific performance in notching his fourth victory of the year. Gordon tossed a complete game five-hit shutout allowing three walks while fanning four batters.

Wichita 10, Gary SouthShore 4 – Box

The Wichita Wingnuts scored seven big runs in the third inning to jump out in front 7-0 and would roll on from there to beat Gary SouthShore by a 10-4 final. Wichita had five batters with multi-hit games including 3B Martin Medina who had a 3-for-5 game with two runs scored and two RBI. Wingnuts C Zac Fisher went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and two RBI while DH Brent Clevlen collected two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Wichita starter Tim Brown tossed six strong innings in picking up the win in his first outing of the year. Brown allowed an earned run on five hits and struck out two batters. For Gary SouthShore in the loss, C Wilfredo Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

Sioux Falls 6, St. Paul 4 – Box

Sioux Falls RF Jabari Henry launched a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to break a 4-4 tie and lift the Canaries to a 6-4 win over St. Paul.  With the victory, Sioux Falls completes the four-game sweep of the Saints and have now won five straight overall. Henry finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI while leadoff hitter Brett Marr had a 2-for-4 game with a pair of runs scored. Canaries LF Ty Morrison also added two hits in five at-bats and a run batted in. Sioux Falls pitcher Nicco Blank allowed an unearned run in two innings of relief to notch the victory and improve his mark to 1-1 on the season. Blank gave up two hits to go with three strikeouts in the nine batters faced.
