DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs 1B Ian Gac (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending September 1.
Gac was an RBI machine for the Saltdogs last week. In seven games, Gac drove in an astounding 12 runs. The first baseman also hit four home runs, doubled once and scored nine times. Gac hit .360 (9-for-25) during the week and helped Lincoln capture five wins.
One game in particular stood out for Gac last week. In the first game of a doubleheader on Friday, August 29, Gac homered twice and drove in seven runs. Both of the first baseman’s home runs came early. In the first inning, Gac belted a three-run shot to put Lincoln on top. The very next inning, Gac came up with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam for his second homer of the day. He leads the league and holds the Saltdogs’ franchise record with 27 home runs.
