DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Wichita Wingnuts LHP Anthony Capra (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending September 1.
Capra earned a pair of wins for the Wingnuts this week. Between his two starts, the left-hander only allowed two runs over 12 innings. Capra surrendered seven hits and struck out nine men.
Capra’s last start was his most impressive. On Saturday, Wichita’s starter pitched six shutout innings to defeat the Laredo Lemurs. Capra only allowed three hits, but he had to work out of trouble as a result of his five walks. The southpaw, however, never failed to get out of danger. Capra left five men in scoring position en route to a 10-3 win.
