Winnipeg 3, Sioux Falls 0 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)– Box
Five Winnipeg pitchers combined to throw a seven-inning no-hitter as the Goldeyes took a road win. Winnipeg struck out a total of seven Canaries hitters during the abbreviated, team-effort gem. RHP Kaohi Downing picked up the win, going two and 2/3 innings and striking out two. RHP Kyle Bellamy earned the save, striking out two in 2/3 of an inning.
Offensively, SS Tyler Kuhn was 2-for-3 with an RBI. C Luis Alen also notched an RBI for Winnipeg.
Winnipeg 7, Sioux Falls 1 (Doubleheader Game One- 7 innings)– Box
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored six runs in innings four through six, and cruised to a win in the opener of a twinbill.
2B Jake Blackwood and RF Donnie Webb each collected two hits for the Goldeyes, and Webb and C Luis Alen each drove in a pair. Alen and 1B Josh Mazzola both homered for the Goldeyes.
LHP Chris Salamida worked a seven-inning complete game for the victory, striking out five Canaries hitters.
Trois-Rivieres 10, Grand Prairie 3– Box
Unlike the other Can-Am teams, the Trois-Rivieres Aigles went to work offensively tonight in an interleague matchup with Grand Prairie, scoring 10 runs to beat the AirHogs 10-3.
The Aigles were led by strong efforts from 3B Eric Grabe RF Carlos Guzman (pictured) and C Elvin Millan Jr. Grabe went 2-5 with a run, an RBI and a triple, Guzman was 2-4 with his first home run of the season and a pair of runs and RBIs and Millan Jr. went 2-5 with a double.
Leadoff man and centerfielder Steve Brown also had a nice night at the plate, going 1-5 with a walk, a pair of runs scored and three runs driven in off of his fourth double on the season.
Quebec 3, St. Paul 1– Box
The Quebec Capitales held the St. Paul Saints to just one run over nine innings to take all the pressure off of the offense and cruise to a 3-1 victory.
Karl Gelinas set the tone for the Capitales and struck out nine St. Paul batters over seven innings while avoiding a single walk. The Saints only managed six hits and their lone run off of Gelinas before he gave the ball to Sheldon McDonald. Mcdonald was perfect in an inning as he bridged the gap to Chris Cox, who only allowed one more Saint hit before picking up the save and slamming the door in the ninth.
RF Asif Shah led the Capitales offensively, going 2-4 with an RBI out of the fifth spot in the lineup.
Fargo-Moorhead 5, Lincoln 4 (Doubleheader Game One- 7 innings)– Box
The RedHawks held off a Saltdogs rally to take a 5-4 win in the first game of a doubleheader. Fargo plated four unearned runs in the top of the fourth, including two on a fielder’s choice and error sequence with SS Zach Penprase at the plate. 1B C.J. Retherford and RF Tim Alberts both notched two hits apiece for the RedHawks.
For Lincoln, RF Brian Joynt was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
RHP Brian Ernst struck out six in six innings to earn the win for Fargo, and RHP Nate Garcia closed it out for his seventh save of the season.
Lincoln 3, Fargo-Moorhead 2 (Doubleheader Game Two- 8 innings)– Box
After the RedHawks scored two in the seventh to force extra innings, the Saltdogs battled back to salvage a split of their doubleheader. C Chris Anderson hit a walk-off single to score DH Kevin Howard with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.
CF Chad Mozingo was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and LHP Connor Spink earned the win in relief.
Both of Fargo’s runs came off of an RBI single by CF Nic Jackson with two outs in the top of the seventh. The RedHawks only mustered six hits in the game from six different players.
Gary SouthShore 2, Sioux City 0 (Doubleheader Game One- 7 innings)– Box
RHP Dustin Crenshaw fired a seven-inning complete game one-hitter for the RailCats as they took game one of the doubleheader. A sixth inning single by RF Peter Barrows of the Explorers was the only blemish on Crenshaw’s line, one that included a pair of strikeouts.
Offensively for the RailCats, SS Daniel Pulfer hit a second inning sacrifice fly and CF Justin Gominski recorded an RBI single in the third. Gary only had four hits, all singles coming among four different players.
Gary SouthShore 6, Sioux City 0 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)– Box
RHP Stephen Hiscock came close to matching his teammate Crenshaw, throwing a seven-inning complete game three-hitter in the nightcap in Sioux City. Hiscock struck out eight Explorers en route to the win.
RF Drew Martinez was 2-for-4, as was 1B Jeremy Hamilton for the RailCats. Martinez and DH Josh Romanski both checked in with doubles on the night. Martinez’s three RBIs led the team, while SS Daniel Pulfer had two RBIs as well. Gary scored four of their six runs in the second inning.
Laredo 5, Amarillo 3– Box
A three-run sixth inning carried the Lemurs to a home victory. 2B Travis Denker and 1B John Alonso drove in the runs in the frame on singles, with Denker’s scoring one and Alonso bringing home a pair.
Denker and RF Harrison Kain both recorded two hits in the game. In total, Denker, who also homered in the fourth, finished with three RBIs.
RHP Cesar Carrillo worked seven innings and struck out two to earn the win for Laredo. Picking up the save was RHP Caleb Graham, who struck out the side in the ninth.
