Sioux City 5, Kansas City 4 (11 innings)- Box
2B Bryan Johns hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Explorers a 5-4 win over the T-Bones. CF Tim Colwell led off the inning with a double, and was sacrificed to third. After a pair of walks, Johns stepped up and drove in Colwell to end the game. The hit was Johns’ third of the day, as he joined SS Nate Samson and Colwell as players with three hits in the game. Samson drove in a pair of runs with a sacrifice fly in the first and an RBI single in the fourth.
LHP Hobbs Johnson tossed two scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Explorers. DH Anthony Gallas was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a home run for the T-Bones.
Winnipeg 4, Gary SouthShore 1- Box
Trailing 1-0 entering the eighth inning, the Winnipeg Goldeyes plated four runs to take a 4-1 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats. CF Reggie Abercrombie and LF Josh Romanski hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning, and 1B Jacob Rogers walked to load the bases. After an out, 3B Wes Darvill singled home Abercrombie to tie the game. An RBI single from C Carlton Tanable drove in Romanski, and SS Maikol Gonzalez drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in Rogers. The final run scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of DH Adam Heisler.
Abercrombie finished 3-for-4 with a walk on the game, while Romanski was 2-for-3 with two walks. RHP Edwin Carl struck out six and allowed just one unearned run over seven innings to pick up the win, and LHP Eric Eadington worked a scoreless ninth for the save.
LF Reggie Wilson tripled in the loss for Gary SouthShore.
