SP Taylor Jordan (1-3) put together a masterful three-hit no-walk shutout against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Thursday, striking out six in the process.
The Explorers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fifth with CF Kyle Wren hitting an RBI triple and RF Michael Lang hitting a two-run home run in back-to-back at bats. LF Luke Bonfield and SS Nate Samson also drove in runners for Sioux City.
SP Kevin McGovern lasted seven innings in the start for the Goldeyes.
Lincoln 4, Texas 1- Box Score
The Lincoln Saltdogs topped the Texas AirHogs in a game that took just 2 hours and 15 minutes on Thursday.
The Saltdogs took a 3-0 lead on a two-run home run by 2B John Sansone in the bottom of the fourth. The AirHogs got on the board in the bottom of the seventh, scoring on an error. RF Randolph Oduber homered in the bottom of the eighth to bring the game to its final score.
SP Kyle Kinman (1-1) was dominant in the win. The lefty gave up one unearned run in his 7.2 innings of work, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out seven.
RHP Jose Ortega pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
Gary SouthShore 4. Chicago 3 (Suspended)
The game between the Gary SouthShore RailCats and Chicago Dogs was suspended due to fog in the bottom of the third. Play will resume July 19.
