Sioux City 8, Winnipeg 7 (11 Innings) – Box

Sioux City scored five runs in the top of the 11th inning to grab an 8-3 advantage and would have to holdoff a tremendous rally by Winnipeg in the bottom of the frame to win by an 8-7 final. The Goldeyes tied the contest up at 2-2 in the fourth inning and that score would hold up through nine innings and force extras. The Explorers tallied a run in the top of the 10th to take a 3-2 lead only to see Winnipeg tie it back up with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Sioux City had 15 hits in the contest and was led by DH Tyler Ogle who went 3-for-6 with a run scored and two RBI. Explorers pitcher PJ Francescon gave up five earned runs in two innings of relief but still ended up winning his fourth victory of the year.

For Winnipeg, C/PH Mason Katz went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI.

Gary SouthShore 4, Lincoln 1 – Box

Gary SouthShore wins their third straight and takes three out of four from Lincoln as they defeat the Saltdogs by the score of 4-1. The RailCats had 10 hits in the contest with three batters having multi-hit games. Gary SouthShore DH Frank Martinez and LF Cameron Newell each went 2-for-5 with a run scored while 2B Cole Fabio collected two hits in four at-bats. RailCats starting pitcher Daniel Minor threw 6 2/3 solid innings and notched his second consecutive victory. Minor allowed an earned run on six hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. The righty is now 2-0 on the season.

The victory by Gary SouthShore places them one game ahead of Kansas City and 1 ½ games on top of Fargo-Moorhead in the wild card standings.

Salina 6, Texas 2 – Box

The Salina Stockade scored a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings to take a 4-1 lead and would roll from there to a 6-2 win over Texas. Salina had eight hits in the game with 3B Jimmy Heck collecting three of them with three RBI. Heck was only a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Stockade LF Jonathan Moroney also chipped in a 1-for-2 night with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Stockade starter David Gates gave up two earned runs over seven innings of work and earned his first victory of the season. Gates allowed three walks and four hits to go along with three strikeouts.

Fargo-Moorhead 5, Sioux Falls 4 – Box

Fargo-Moorhead SS Yhoxian Medina scored a run off an error in the top of the ninth inning to take a 5-1 lead and that would be the difference in the game as the RedHawks held off a furious rally by Sioux Falls in the bottom of the frame to win, 5-4. The win by Fargo-Moorhead keeps them only 1 ½ games behind Gary SouthShore in the chase for the wild card. RedHawks 1B Trever Adams went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while DH K.D. Kang drove in a pair of runs in a 1-for-4 night. Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Tyler Stirewalt allowed an earned run on four hits in seven innings pitched to nab his first victory. Stirewalt had four walks and three strikeouts in the contest.

St. Paul 5, Wichita 1 – Box

St. Paul starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman tossed seven strong innings in leading the Saints to a 5-1 win over the Wichita Wingnuts. Zimmerman gave up an earned run on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts in a 105-pitch effort. The righty nabbed the win and is now 7-6 on the year. Offensively for St. Paul, 2B Mitch Delfino went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI while leadoff hitter Tim Colwell contributed a pair of hits and a run. The Saints tallied all five of their runs over the fourth and fifth innings.

For Wichita, 2B Christian Stringer scored the lone run and went 1-for-5.
