ELEVEN-RUN FOURTH PROPELS WINGNUTS TO VICTORY

Wichita

Wichita 11, Kansas City 5 – Box

Led by an 11-run fourth inning that saw Wichita bring 15 batters to the plate, the Wingnuts cruised to an 11-5 victory over Kansas City. Wichita collected 10 hits as a team and was led by DH Zac Fisher who went 4-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI. Wingnuts RF Richard Prigatano had a 2-for-5 night with a pair of runs scored and two RBI while 3B T.J. Mittelstaedt chipped in two runs and a RBI in a 1-for-2 game. Wichita starting pitcher Tim Brown received plenty of run support and notched his third victory of the season. Brown went seven innings allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out five batters.

St. Paul 10, Winnipeg 7 – Box

The St. Paul Saints scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead for good at 4-3 and would go on from there to beat Winnipeg by a 10-7 final. St. Paul banged out 12 hits in the contest with five batters having multi-hit games. Saints 2B Tony Thomas went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI while 1B Mitch Delfino added two hits in five at-bats along with a RBI and a pair of runs. Saints starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman gave up three earned runs in six innings of work and notched his sixth victory of the season. Zimmerman allowed four walks and four hits to go with six strikeouts. For Winnipeg in the losing effort, C Mason Katz had a 2-for-4 night with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.

Sioux Falls 8, Gary SouthShore 7 – Box

Sioux Falls tallied three runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead and would hold off a late Gary SouthShore rally to win, 8-7. Five Canaries had multi-hit games including RF Jabari Henry who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Sioux Falls 1B Chris Jacobs had a 2-for-5 game with two runs scored while 2B Brett Marr added three hits in four at-bats along with a run and a RBI. Canaries pitcher Dylan Thompson tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn his third victory. Thompson gave up a hit with three strikeouts in the six batters faced. For Gary SouthShore, CF Chase Harris had a home run and drove in two in a 3-for-4 night.

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Sioux City 1 – Box

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks complete the three-game sweep of Sioux City as they beat the Explorers by the score of 4-1. With the win, Fargo-Moorhead is now only 1 ½ games behind Kansas City in the race for the wild card. RedHawks starting pitcher Jose Almarante tossed eight solid innings en route to his fifth win of the season. Almarante gave up an earned run on seven hits and struck out 10 batters in a 112-pitch effort. Offensively for Fargo-Moorhead, DH Chris Grayson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI while 3B Josh Mazzola and 1B Trever Adams each launched a solo home run.
