Chicago 11, St. Paul 9 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs held off the St. Paul Saints 11-9 to pull within four games of the Saints for the final playoff spot in the in North Division.

The Dogs took control of the game with a six-run fourth that saw an RBI single from 3B Trey Vavra, a bases-loaded walk from CF David Olmedo-Barrera and 2B Edwin Arroyo (2-for-4) and 1B Keon Barnum both singled to plate a pair of runs. Chicago added three more runs in the top of the ninth as RF Victor Roache (two HRs) hit a three-run homer to take an 11-6 lead.

The Saints rallied in the bottom of the ninth as 3B Chesny Young singled home 2B Josh Allen and CF Blake Schmit singled home both 1B John Silviano and Young but RF Michael Lang bounced out in the next at-bat to end the game. C Jeremy Martinez went 4-for-5 with three RBIs for the Saints.

 

Kansas City 6, Texas 1 – Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones used a five-run sixth inning to take care of the Texas AirHogs 6-1.

In the top of the sixth, 1B Casey Gillaspie singled home SS Shawn O’Malley (3-for-5) and RF Stewart Ijames to open the scoring. Later in the inning, the T-Bones loaded up the bases and 3B Ramsey Romano drew a walk and 2B Dylan Tice singled home C Christian Correa (2-for-4) and LF Danny Mars (2-for-3).

The AirHogs scored their only run in the bottom of the frame as 2B Li Ning touched home when 1B Chen Junpeng bounced out. Mars drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the seventh for the final run of the contest.

Starting pitcher Tommy Collier earned the win for tossing six innings, allowing six hits and the one run while recording eight strikeouts.

 

Winnipeg 13, Gary SouthShore 7 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes dropped the Gary SouthShore RailCats 13-7 in a game where both teams combined for 26 hits.

The Goldeyes turned 12 hits into 13 runs including three home runs, two from RH Willy Garcia (3-for-5, 4 RBIs). LF Tyler Marincov, 3B Wes Darvill and C Kevin Garcia each had pair of hits in the game and Marincov had three RBIs. CF Reggie Abercrombie scored three times and hit his 13th home run of 2019.

For the RailCats, 1B Randy Santiesteban went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and CF Colin Willis went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. 3B Hayden Schilling added a pair of hits and a pair of runs.

 

Sioux City 14, Sioux Falls 4 – Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers remained a game in front of Kansas City for the final playoff spot in the South Division with a 14-4 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

The Explorers racked up 18 hits from nine different batters, three of which had three-hit games. 2B Drew Stankiewicz went 3-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored, 1B Adam Sasser went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs and LF Sebastian Zawada went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run. RF Jeremy Hazelbaker, DH Dexture McCall and C Dylan Kelly each added a pair of hits.

For the Canaries, OF Clint Coulter went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored including his 18th home run of the year. 3B Kevin Taylor added a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI.
