Fargo-Moorhead 13, Wichita 3 – Box
DH Keury De La Cruz (pictured) hit three home runs as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Wichita Wingnuts 13-3. De La Cruz, who was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and eight RBI, backed starter Tyler Herron’s excellent outing on the mound has he earned the win shutting out Wichita for seven innings, allowing seven hits while striking out nine. Fargo-Moorhead jumped out to an early lead as they took a 12-0 advantage into the fifth inning. For the RedHawks, five players had multiple hits in the game. Wingnuts’ 3B Zack Cox and RF Brent Clevlen each had two hits in the game.
St. Paul 7, Kansas City 5 – Box
2B Tony Thomas led the Saints’ offense as he hit a triple and crushed his third home run of the year to go 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored en route to a 7-5 victory over Kansas City. Thomas’ excellent evening at the plate increased his batting average to .432 (16-for-37), which is third best in the league. Starter John Straka logged the win throwing six innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs. After the T-Bones got on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the second, St. Paul would respond in the bottom half scoring a pair of runs to regain momentum as the team would score five times over the next three frames. For Kansas City, DH Anthony Gallas and 3B Brandon Tierney had two hits each.
Sioux City 9, Sioux Falls 6 – Box
A six run fourth inning sparked the Sioux City Explorers’ offense as they defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries 9-6. The win marked the third victory of the season for the Explorers. Starter Eric Wordekemper received the win going 5.1 innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits as reliever Connor Overton was credited with the save. Explorers’ 2B Noah Perio had a fantastic night at the plate going 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI. For Sioux Falls, the bullpen of Josh Ferrell, Jimmer Kennedy, James Jones and Kris Regas was excellent as they combined to not allow an earned run and just gave up one hit.
Laredo 7, Texas 1 – Box
A six run top of the ninth was the difference as the Laredo Lemurs defeated the Texas AirHogs to win their fourth game of the year. Reliever Kyle Winkler earned the win for shutting out Texas in the eighth and ninth innings. Laredo 3B Travis Denker went 1-for-4 with a homerun and three RBI as Laredo outhit Texas 6-5. In the third inning, AirHogs RF Burt Reynolds hit his fourth home run to tie the league lead.
Winnipeg 0, Lincoln 0 – SUSP
Due to inclement weather, this nine inning regulation game will resume at 5:30 PM on Saturday in the top of the third inning as a part of a doubleheader. Saturday’s originally scheduled game will be shortened to seven innings.
