DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that St. Paul Saints SP Anthony Claggett (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 18.
Claggett, the Opening Night starter for the Saints, was instrumental in the team’s 6-0 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats Thursday night May 15. He threw six and 2/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing only one hit and walking two hitters while striking out five.
The bullpen was able to preserve the victory for Claggett, scattering three hits over two and 1/3 innings.
A native of Palm Desert, California, Claggett was 9-6 with a 3.10 ERA for the Saints in 2013. He and the Saints open a three game series at the Sioux City Explorers tonight at 7:05 p.m. Central time.
