Sioux Falls 16, Kansas City 10 – Box Score
The Sioux Falls Canaries (13-27) came out victorious against the Kansas City Monarchs (26-13) on Sunday afternoon at Sioux Falls Stadium.
The Monarchs started off strong by leading the Canaries 9-1 after the top of the 4th inning. DH Matt Adams (1-for-4, 3 RBIs) hit a 2-run home run with only 1 out in the top of the 3rd inning to bring home himself and RF Jan Hernandez (3-for-4, 2 RBIs). Later on in the inning, CF Willie Abreu (3-for-4, 1 RBI) hit another home run to bring the Monarchs’ lead to 6-1. Both teams had a big 4th inning starting off with the Monarchs scoring another 3 runs. C J.C. Escarra (1-for-4, 1 RBI) brings in 3B Chad De La Guerra (1-for-4) after hitting a triple, then he scores with LF Darnell Sweeney (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) after Sweeney hits a home run. The Canaries scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th after a home run from DH Jabari Henry (1-for-5, 2 RBIs) that also brought in SS Angelo Altavilla (1-for-5). The Canaries took the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning after scoring 5 runs to bring the score to 10-9. The big play of the inning came from C Shamoy Christopher (1-for-4, 4 RBIs) who hit a grand slam with 2 outs in the inning.
The Canaries will be back on the field on Tuesday, June 28th away against the Sioux City Explorers. The Monarchs will play again on Monday, June 27th against The Cleburne Railroaders.
Winnipeg 6, Lincoln 1 Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes (22-17) close out the weekend with a sweeping win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (20-18) Sunday afternoon at Haymarket Park.
The Goldeyes wasted no time getting the bats hot, scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a 2-run home run from RF Max Murphy (1-for-4, 1 run, 2 RBIs), his 4th in the last 5 games. Saltdogs SS JR DiSarcina (1-for-4, 1 run) would score due to a Goldeye wild pitch in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Winnipeg would respond with a 4-run 4th inning that included a 2 RBI single from DH Ian Sagdal (3-for-5, 1 run, 2 RBIs) and an RBI single from 1B David Washington (1-for-3, 1 RBI). Goldeyes SP Landon Bourassa spent 6 innings on the bump, striking out 5 Saltdogs while giving up 4 hits and allowing 1 run.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes will take a 5-game win streak back to Shaw Park to battle the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Tuesday, June 28th at 6:30 p.m. while the Lincoln Saltdogs will host the Kane County Cougars at Haymarket Park at 7:05 p.m.
Gary SouthShore 8, Milwaukee 4 Box Score
The Gary SouthShore RailCats (20-21) complete the sweep against the Milwaukee Milkmen (20-19) Sunday afternoon at Franklin Field.
The RailCats struck first with an RBI double from LF Zach Racusin (2-for-4, 1 RBI) in the top of the 2nd inning. The Boys from the SouthShore would add to their lead in the top of the 3rd inning with SS Daniel Lingua (2-for-5, 1 run, 2 RBIs) batting in 2 runs and LF Jesus Marriaga (1-for-5) with an RBI of his own. The ‘Cats were leading the Milkmen 5-1 entering the bottom half of the 6th frame before Milwaukee awakened and scored 3 runs thanks to a single from LF Correlle Prime (2-for-4, 1 run), a stolen base by SS Mason Davis (1-for-4, 1 run), and an RBI single from 1B Dylan Kelly (1-for-4, 1 RBI). The RailCats shut down the Milkmen after their 3 run inning and scored 1 run in the top of the 7th inning from Marriaga’s ground-rule double and 2 in the 8th inning from a Racusin single that scored 1B Sam Abbott (2-for-4, 2 runs) and CF Javeyan Williams (1 run, subbed in for Racusin to pinch run in 8th inning).
The Gary SouthShore RailCats will be back in action for a 3-game series against the division leading Chicago Dogs that starts Tuesday, June 28th at the Steel Yard at 6:45 p.m. while the Milwaukee Milkmen will hit the road on Tuesday, June 28th to play the Lake Country DockHounds at WBC Park at 6:35 p.m.

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Kane County 1 Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (29-11) take the series Sunday afternoon against the Kane County Cougars (20-19) at Newman Outdoor Field.
Both teams were held scoreless until the RedHawks exploded for 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning thanks to a 2-run home run from 3B Leobaldo Pina (3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), an RBI single from C Christain Correa (2-for-4, 1 run, 1 RBI), and a sacrifice fly RBI from SS Sam Dexter (0-for-2, 1 RBI). Fargo-Moorhead would add on 2 more runs – 1 in the 5th inning and 1 in the 6th inning – lead the Cougars 6-0 after 6 innings of play. Kane County LF Cornelius Randolph (1-for-2, 1 RBI) would score DH Ernie De La Trinidad (0-for-2) due to an RBI groundout in the top of the 8th, but it was not enough to even the score. RedHawks SP Kevin McGovern had an impressive outing on the mound, pitching 7.0 innings with 3 hits, 0 runs, and 10 strikeouts.
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will travel to Shaw Park to play the red hot Winnipeg Goldeyes on Tuesday, June 28th at 6:30 p.m. while the Kane County Cougars will travel to Haymarket Park to battle the Lincoln Saltdogs on Monday, June 27th at 7:05 p.m.
Sioux City 7, Cleburne 6 – Box Score
The Sioux City Explorers (16-22) narrowly defeated the Cleburne Railroaders (11-28) on Sunday night after a long game that was delayed by lightning.
The Explorers held a 5-0 lead until the end of the 4th inning when the Railroaders scored 3 runs to bring the score to 5-3. At the top of the 3rd inning, RF Trey Martin (1-for-4, 1 RBI) hit a single to advance 1B Danry Vasquez (1-for-4) to 2nd base and to allow LF Danny Amaral (3-for-4) to score. Vasques later scored in the inning due to a single that was hit by 2B Nate Samson (3-for-5, 1 RBI). Martin and Samson later scored in the inning due to a single that was hit by 3B Blake Tiberi (2-for-3, 3 RBIs). The score became close towards the end of the game when the Railroaders scored 3 runs in the last 2 innings to only trail the Explorers by 1 at the end of the 9th inning. LF Chuck Taylor (4-for-5, 2 RBIs) hit a home run off of the 4th pitch in the bottom of the 8th inning that was later followed by an unearned run scored by DH Hunter Wolfe (0-for-4, 1 RBI) to bring the Railroaders within 2 runs of the Explorers. In the bottom of the 9th, Taylor scored after being sent home by a ground rule double hit by C Jacob Bockelie (1-for-4, 1 RBI) after he hit a triple to put him into scoring position. These runs weren’t enough, as the Explorers still came out victorious.
The Railroaders will be back in action on Monday, June 27th where they will take on the Kansas City Monarchs. The Explorers will be back at home on Tuesday, June 28th where they will take on the Sioux Falls Canaries at 7:05 p.m.
