DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs LHP Matt Bywater (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.
Bywater had a sensational start against Fargo-Moorhead on Thursday. The Lincoln southpaw pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and walking one batter. Bywater struck out nine RedHawks en route to a 7-0 Saltdogs win.
The lefty starter out of Pepperdine University improved his record to 2-1, but he also made large strides in other statistical categories. Bywater dropped his ERA 218 points (from 5.65 to 3.47). He also saw an overall improvement in his strikeout-to-walk ratio, which jumped to 4.2 from 3.0 in one start.
