Joplin

Joplin 6, Wichita 2 – Box

Joplin broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth to roll past the Wichita Wingnuts by the score of 6-2. Blasters RF Jesus Solorzano had a solid day at the plate going 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI. Joplin 2B Omar Luna and 3B Mitch Glasser each went 1-for-3 and scored a pair of runs. Blasters reliever Sam Agnew-Wieland collected his second win of the season as he went two innings giving up an earned run on three hits. For Wichita in the loss, 2B Luis Hernandez and 3B TJ Mittelstaedt each had two hits.

St. Paul 6, Fargo-Moorhead 2 – Box

The St. Paul Saints scored two runs in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and two more insurance runs in the eighth to defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 6-2. St. Paul C Mike Kvasnicka led the way offensively going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Saints SS Anthony Phillips had a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored while 1B Angelo Songco had two hits and scored a run. St. Paul starting pitcher Jeff Shields continued his solid season as he notched is league lead tying sixth win of the year. Shields tossed seven innings giving up two earned runs on three hits and struck out four batters.

Gary SouthShore 5, Lincoln 3 – Box

Trailing 3-0 after just a half inning, Gary SouthShore scored five runs in three of the first four innings to take a 5-3 lead and would go on to win by that same score over Lincoln. RailCats CF Jon Jones had a 2-for-3 day with a run scored and two RBI. Gary SouthShore 1B Alex Crosby collected two hits and scored two runs while C Michael Vaughn chipped in with his first home run of the season. After a slow start, RailCats starter Charle Rosario settled down and picked up his sixth win of the year. He gave up three runs, all earned, on six hits and struck out five hitters in 7 2/3 innings of work. With the six victories, Rosario is now tied for the league lead.
