(Via St. Paul Saints) ST. PAUL, MN (June 28, 2019) – The 2019 American Association All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 23, will feature the best and brightest stars the league has to offer. The day before, All-Star Monday presented by CHS, won’t lack for star talent either. The St. Paul Saints will kick off the two-day celebration with a night of stars including a celebrity softball game featuring All Pro wide receiver, Adam Thielen and friends, the American Association home run derby, presented by Jack Links, and culminates with a concert headlined by country music’s Drake White and The Big Fire.
On Monday, July 22 CHS Field will host the extravaganza beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the Celebrity Softball Game featuring Adam Thielen and friends. The 90-minute game will be an all-out battle between NFL players, St. Paul Baseball icons, Twin Cities media personalities, and a few surprise guests. Find out if the burly athletes from the gridiron can slug a ball 400 feet or if the talking heads can get the ball out of the infield. In the end, it’s all for a good cause as the event will benefit the Thielen Foundation. Adam and his wife Caitlin founded this charitable organization with a focus on youth development and aims to create programs that serve, educate and inspire individuals so they’re equipped and empowered to reach their full potential in life. In addition to other fundraising opportunities, the jerseys worn by the two teams during the softball game will be auctioned throughout the game with the proceeds benefiting the Thielen Foundation.
Following the Celebrity Softball Game the top sluggers in the American Association will display their raw power during the Jack Links Home Run Derby. From 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. these sluggers will face off to see how many, and how far, they can hit it out of CHS Field as they try to claim the title of league’s best. Four players from the North Division and four players from the South Division will square off along with some special guest home run hitters.
Finally, the night will culminate with a country music concert featuring Drake White and The Big Fire. Drake’s soulful voice is equal parts Baptist tent revival and amped-up southern rock festival. His country soul sound was first heard in his debut single in 2013 “Simple Life,” and he’s known for his hits “It Feels Good,” “Living the Dream,” and “Making Me Look Good Again.” He reached number four on the Top Country Albums chart in 2016 with “Spark”. Drake, along with his band The Big Fire, has toured with artists including Willie Nelson, Dierks Bentley, Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Kip Moore and more. It’s no wonder the Alabama native was named one of Entertainment Weekly’s New Artists Who Will Rule 2017, Rolling Stone’s 10 Country Artists You Need To Know, and Billboard’s Hot New Country Artists to Watch. The Chris Hawkey Band will open the show. Chris and his band, with such hits as “Set Free,” “Favorite Song” and “North Country,” will bring their country-rock sound to CHS Field. Chris has shared the stage with Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Sugerland and more.
