ALLEN BLASTS WALK-OFF GRAND SLAM FOR SAINTS

St. Paul 9, Kansas City 7 – Box Score

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, 2B Josh Allen stepped to the plate and delivered a walk-off grand slam to give the St. Paul Saints (36-20) a 9-7 win against the Kansas City T-Bones.

The Saints entered the final frame trailing 7-5 but quickly went to work to load up the bases. LF Troy Alexander drew a lead-off walk and CF Dan Motl (2-for-3, 4 runs) singled to put the tying run on base. After SS Chris Baker struck out, DH Brady Shoemaker drew a walk to load up the bases. 1B John Silviano also struck out, bring Allen (2-for-5) to the plate with no room for error. He turned on the 0-1 pitch and ended the game with his 14th home run of the season.

For the T-Bones, LF Dylan Tice went 4-for-5 with an RBI and RF Casey Gillaspie added a pair of hits and an RBI.

 

Chicago 11, Sioux City 4 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs (32-23) bounced back from the first lost in the last 10 games to handle the Sioux City Explorers 11-4.

The Dogs racked up 17 hits on the day and saw all nine batters get in on the action. DH Keon Barnum went 4-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored to lead the way. 2B Edwin Arroyo added a 3-for-5 performance with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored. 1B Trey Vavra, C Michael Kranson and SS Gustavo Pierre each had a pair of hits.

For the Explorers, SS Nate Samson went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

 

Milwaukee 10, Texas 2 – Box Score

After three runs in the first inning, the Milwaukee Milkmen (23-32) never trailed on the way to a 10-2 win against the Texas AirHogs.

CF Adam Walker (2-for-5) doubled home two runs and then scored when DH Dan Ward (2-for-4) hit a ground rule double in the top of the first to get things started. The AirHogs pulled one back in the bottom of the frame as SS Yang Jin (2-for-4) singled home 2B Li Ning but the Milkmen didn’t slow down. They added another run in the second and three more in the fifth including a two-run home run from Ward. LF Riley Pittman (2-for-5) tacked on a two-run shot in the seventh and 1B Glen McClain (3-for-5) hit a lead-off homer in the ninth to put things away.

Starting pitcher Jordan Kraus (3-1) picked up the win after throwing seven innings and giving up one run on four hits while striking out eight.

 

Cleburne 10, Lincoln 1 – Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders (31-24) held the Lincoln Saltdogs to just three hits as they earned a 10-1 win Tuesday at the Depot at Cleburne Station.

Starting pitcher Greyfer Eregua (2-0) picked up the win as he worked five innings and gave up the Saltdogs’ only run on two hits. He also had four strikeouts. Three different relievers helped shut the door, allowing just one more hit the rest of the way.

Offensively, SS Daniel Robertson and 2B Ryan Brett each went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and 3B Chase Simpson went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. C John Nester and DH Hunter Clanin each added home runs.

 

Winnipeg 11, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (30-25) rolled to an 11-2 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries Tuesday evening at Shaw Park.

1B Kyle Martin (2-for-5) opened the scoring with a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning. In the fifth, the Goldeyes added three more runs thanks to an RBI double from SS Wes Darville (2-for-5) and RBI singles from LF James Harris (2-for-3) and DH Willy Garcia (2-for-4). Martin, Garcia and 3B Dominic Fiociello each added RBI base hits in the seventh to push the game well out of reach.

For the Canaries, four batters each had a pair of hits: CF Brett Vertigan, LF Kevin Taylor, RF Burt Reynolds and SS Andrew Ely.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 16, Gary SouthShore 1 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (38-18) put on a display of power on Tuesday afternoon as they topped the Gary SouthShore RailCats 16-1.

The RedHawks hit five home runs in the game including two from 3B Leobaldo Pina. Pina hit a grand slam and a three-run shot to finish the day with seven RBIs. All nine batters in the lineup had at least one hit and 1B Correlle Prime led the way with four and four runs scored. RF Tim Colwell, DH Chris Jacobs and SS Yhoxian Medina each added three hits.

The RailCats’ lone run came in the bottom of the ninth inning thanks to an RBI from LF M.J. Rookard (3-for-4). The game was called with one out in the bottom of the ninth due to rain.
