Gary SouthShore 6, Sioux City 2

LF Adam Klein (pictured) made the different as the Gary SouthShore RailCats beat the Sioux City Explorers 6-2. Klein was 2-for-5 with four RBI including a bases-clearing three RBI double in the sixth inning. That hit gave the RailCats the 4-1 lead and they wouldn’t trail again for the rest of the game.

Every other RailCat also had at least one hit and six of them had two hit games. All told the RailCats belted out 16 hits. For the Explorers, DH Luke Murton had a game-high three hits in four at bats. 3B Bryan Pounds had the team’s only RBI.

 

Winnipeg 6, Trois-Rivieres 5

The Winnipeg Goldeyes jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning and held on to beat the Trois-Rivieres Aigles 6-5. DH Casey Haerther doubled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and SS Josh Mazzola homered in the next at bat to put the Goldeyes on top 4-0. Both Haerther and Mazzola were 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Both 3B Amos Ramon and 2B Kevin Moesquit also registered two hits. For the Trois-Rivieres SS David Cooper went 3-for-4 with two RBI and 3B Cam Kneeland went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Starter Peter Gehle was tabbed as the winner for going six innings and allowing four runs on eight hits.

 

Amarillo 9, Grand Prairie 6

Amarillo 3B Brandon Jones homered twice as the Sox beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs 9-6. Jones was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the game. Five other Sox had multi-hit games including leadoff man 2B Jermel Lomack, who was 2-for-5 with two RBI. CF Jason Martin 3-for-4 and scored a run.

DH Cory Patton scored three runs in the game. For the AirHogs, DH Palmer Karr was 3-for-4 and 1B Andres Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Reliever Jason Mitchell was credited for the win for working a scoreless sixth inning.

 

El Paso 8, Wichita 7

The El Paso Diablos walked off on the Wichita Wingnuts on a single by 1B Jonathan Cisneros in the bottom of the ninth inning. The game was tied at seven when the Diablos came to bat in the bottom of the last inning. The after the first batter bounced out, the next two walked and the third reached after being hit by a pitch. Cisneros singled in C Juan Apodaca to end the game. Cisneros went 2-for-5 in the game.

Nine different Diablos registered a hit in the game and Apodaca and CF Gabe Suarez both added a pair of RBI. Wichita’s 2B Jake Kahaulelio belted out four hits in the game and DH John Rodriguez had two hits for three RBI.

 

Laredo, Kansas City (Postponed – Rain)

The game between the Laredo Lemurs and the Kansas City T-Bones was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as a part of a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 6 p.m.
