The Winnipeg Goldeyes are proud to announce Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries as the title sponsor of the 2014 American Association All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 29 at Shaw Park.

“The Goldeyes and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries have enjoyed a great partnership since our inaugural season in 1994 and we are thrilled to partner once again for the all-star game, ” Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier said. “It’s an event our fans are looking forward to and will be made even better with this partnership.”

The 2014 Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries American Association All-Star Game will feature the North against the South. Members of the Goldeyes will be joined on the North squad by players from the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Gary SouthShore RailCats, St. Paul Saints, Sioux City Explorers and Sioux Falls Canaries. The South team will be comprised of players from the Amarillo Sox, Grand Prairie AirHogs, Kansas City T-Bones, Laredo Lemurs, Lincoln Saltdogs and Wichita Wingnuts. The four teams from the Can-Am League will also have representation in the game. The Quebec Capitales and Trois-Rivieres Aigles will place players on the North team and the New Jersey Jackals and Rockland Boulders will have players on the South team.

“We are proud to be the title sponsor of the 2014 American Association All-Star Game,” said President and CEO of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Winston Hodgins. “This two-day event will not only showcase some of the greatest talent in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, it will also give the Winnipeg baseball club the opportunity to show the rest of the league what a great city we have.”

Every fan in attendance at the game will receive a Goldeyes Car Cling, courtesy of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, and commemorative all-star game program. The hilarious Zooperstars and BirdZerk will entertain fans between innings. Following the game, there will be a spectacular fireworks show and fans can interact with players at a post-game party.

The two-day celebration begins on Monday, July 28 with the Recycle Everywhere Skills Competition & Home Run Derby and All-Star Fan Fest at Shaw Park. July 29 features the BFI All-Star Luncheon and McDonald’s All-Star Skills Camp in the afternoon. The 2014 Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries American Association All-Star Game will take place that night at 7 p.m. at Shaw Park.

The Recycle Everywhere All-Star Skills Competition will feature players competing in three events: fastest runner, outfield throwing accuracy and the home run derby. The evening also includes a media skills competition and performances by illusionist Brian Glow. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive an All-Star Baseball, courtesy of Recycle Everywhere.

Canadian and Baseball Hall of Fame member Ferguson Jenkins will be the guest speaker at the BFI All-Star Luncheon, which will take place at the Fairmont Hotel. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Goldeyes office at 204-982-2273.

Kids ages 8-13 can sign up soon for the McDonalds All-Star Skills Camp. The three-hour camp will feature baseball instruction from Goldeyes players at Shaw Park.
