Durham, N.C. — The contract of Winnipeg Goldeyes RHP Nestor Molina was purchased by the San Francisco Giants organization, the American Association announced on Wednesday.
Molina was acquired by Winnipeg in December from the Joplin Blasters, where he was the club’s most consistent starter in 2015. The native of Valencia, Venezuela, led the Blasters with 17 starts, 104.0 innings pitched, seven wins, and a 3.11 ERA, ninth-best in the league. He also walked just 18 hitters while striking out 71.
Previously, Molina spent nine seasons in the Toronto and Chicago White Sox organizations, reaching as high as Triple-A in 2012. He began is professional career in 2006 as a third baseman, but became a full-time pitcher in 2008.
