WINNIPEG’S ANDERSON SOLD TO D-BACKS

DURHAM, NC- The contract of Winnipeg Goldeyes LHP Kyle Anderson (pictured) has been sold to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The southpaw will be temporarily assigned to the Arizona League Diamondbacks before moving elsewhere in the Arizona system.

He is 3-2 with a 1.64 ERA in eight games, seven of them starts, with the Goldeyes in 2014. In 49 and 1/3 innings, the Aptos, California resident has 29 strikeouts to only nine walks. Anderson’s most recent start with the Goldeyes, on June 25 at the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, saw him strike out seven and allow only a single run in a six-inning no-decision.

Anderson spent two seasons in the Toronto Blue Jays system before joining Winnipeg. In 2012, he appeared in 15 combined games with the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays and the Vancouver Canadians. That year, he was 4-2 with a 4.53 ERA and struck out 27 hitters in 53 and 2/3 innings. Anderson returned to Vancouver in 2013, and he made 15 starts with the Canadians, going 5-3 with a 2.71 ERA. In 83 innings, Anderson struck out 58 and only walked 12 hitters.

Anderson played his collegiate baseball at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo for four seasons from 2009-2012.
