WINNIPEG WINS 11 INNING THRILLER

Winnipeg 4, St. Paul 3 (11 innings) – Box

In an 11 inning thriller, Winnipeg ended up victorious over St. Paul. After trailing by two, St. Paul came back in the eight with a two run inning. DH Willie Argo led off the inning with a home run to bring them within one. C Vinny DiFazio tied the game by bringing in 1B Ian Gac. DiFazio ended up with four hits in the game. Argo went 2-5 with a run and an RBI courtesy of himself.

The game went into extras and with one out in the 11th inning 1B Casey Haerther stepped to the plate. Haerther singled to center field to bring home the winning run. RF Brady Wilson scored from third on the play. Both Wilson and Haerther went 2-4 in the game. SS Josh Mazzola also hit a home run. Relief pitcher Raul Rivera earned the win for Winnipeg.

Amarillo 2, Grand Prairie 0 – Box

It was a pitcher’s duel as Amarillo was able to get the victory due to a two run sixth inning. Anthony Figliolia squared off againstBrett Walach and Figliolia was able to come out victorious. Figliolia went 8 innings deep with 6 hits allowed and didn’t let one run cross the plate. Walach was also impressive going 7 innings and posting 7 strikeouts as well.

Amarillo took the lead after CF Andy Crowley hit a two-run single that scored C Corey Bass and 3B Taylor Smart. The Air Hogs saw good at-bats from their LF Willie Cabrera and their SS Robi Estrada. The two combined for five the team’s six hits, with Cabrera reaching base three times.

Sioux City 5, Lincoln 0 – Box

Ryan Zimmerman pitched an outstanding game for Sioux City, going all nine without allowing one run. He struck out six as well only allowing four men on base. DH Brock Kjeldgaard continued his momentum from his player of the week award going 1-4 with a run scored. However, the big bat for Sioux City would be Rene Tosoni, who went 3-5 with a run scored and an RBI to bring his season average up to .368. Leadoff hitter CF Matty Johnson flashed some power with a triple and a run scored. He went 1-4 but reached base another time due to a walk. CF Jon Gaston reached base multiple times for the Saltdogs. Gaston went 2-4 in the game with two singles.

Wichita 4, Gary Southshore 3 – Box

After falling behind 3-1, Gary Southshore came storming back with a three run 7th inning to take the lead and give them a victory. C Jon Nestor started the rally by scoring on a passed ball. 1B Dustin Geiger then scored after stealing home plate. In the same at-bat RF David Espinosa brought home CF Jayce Ray on an RBI double that would give Wichita the lead they would hold the rest of the game. Nestor finished 2-4 with a run scored. Jason Van Skike was awarded the victory after pitching seven strong innings for Wichita.

Leadoff hitter CF Jon Jones had a hit and two RBI for Gary Southshore. The big hitter in the game was Gary Southshore 1BMichael Schroeder, who was the only player in the game with three hits. He went 3-3 with a run scored.

Laredo 3, Trios Rivieres 0 – Box

Laredo took the inter league victory over Trios Rivieres tonight. Laredo won using a committee of different pitchers. They used six different arms, but as a collective effort did not allow one run. Reliever Joan Montero earned the victory and John Brebbia had a save. 3B Juan Silverio swung the hot bat for Laredo, going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. CF Dvontray Richardson also had a good game going 1-3 with a double and a run scored.

CF Steve Brown and LF Craig Hertler both reached base three times for Trios Rivieres. Brown went 2-3 with a walk and a stolen base. Hertler went 1-3 with two walks.

Sioux Falls 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 – Box

Sioux Falls was able to outlast a balanced offensive attack from Fargo-Moorhead thanks in part to timely hitting. They were lead by 2B Michael Wing, who was 0-2 but got on base three times because of patience at the plate. Wing drew three walks and stole a base. DH David Bergin reached base all four times he stepped in the batter’s box. He was 2-2 with two walks and drove in RF Jason Repko with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Bergin also scored a run for Sioux Falls. Starting pitcher Miguel Pena took home the win for Sioux Falls after only allowing three runs in 6.2 innings. Chase Johnson pitched a perfect 9th to get the save.

Fargo- Moorhead had a balanced lineup with four different players having multiple hits in the game. They also had four extra base hits, all doubles. CF Drew Murren led the charge for Fargo Moorhead going 3-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

 

Kansas City 0, Joplin 0 (Suspended- 1st inning)

The game between Kansas City and Joplin has been suspended due to rain. It will resume tomorrow before the scheduled game.
