Wichita 6, Laredo 2Box

Wichita continues its tremendous season as they win their seventh in a row in a 6-2 decision over the Laredo Lemurs. The Wingnuts are now 63-26 on the season with a .708 winning percentage. The Wingnuts 3-4 hitters of 1B David Espinosa and CF Brent Clevlen went a combined 4-for-9 in the game with two home runs (one each), five runs scored and three RBI. Wichita DH Victor Diaz had two hits and 2B Abel Nieves chipped in with three. Wingnuts starting pitcher Tim Brown won his 10th game as he gave up a run  and struck out six over seven innings pitched.

St. Paul 7, Lincoln 2 (Game 1 – 7 Innings)Box

St. Paul scored five big runs in the third inning, highlighted by a 3B Joe Bonfe grand slam, to rally from an early 1-0 deficit and beat Lincoln 7-2 in game one of the doubleheader. Bonfe drove in five runs in the contest while four Saints hitters had multi-hit games. St. Paul 2B Devin Thaut went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and SS Joey Becker and RF Tyler Peterson each had two hits and plated a run. Saints starting pitcher Jeff Shields notched his sixth win of the season as he tossed a complete game giving up two earned runs on six hits.

Lincoln 3, St. Paul 2 (Game 2 – 8 Innings)Box

Saltdogs 1B Ian Gac scored on a fielder’s choice by 3B Eddie Young in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Lincoln a 3-2 walkoff win over St. Paul and a split in the doubleheader. Lincoln 2B Luis Nunez went 3-for-4 in the game with a run scored while RF Brian Joynt had two hits in four at-bats with a RBI. Saltdogs starting pitcher Joe Bisenius tossed a complete game en route to his fifth win of the season. Bisenius gave up two earned runs on 10 hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts. For St. Paul in defeat, C Vince DiFazio was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.

Grand Prairie 4, Amarillo 3Box

Grand Prairie scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally from a 3-2 deficit and beat Amarillo, 4-3. The AirHogs had 12 hits in the game with five players having multi-hit games. Grand Prairie LF Frazier Hall went 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored while 3B Matthew Burns had two hits and two RBI. AirHogs 2B Alex Nunez chipped in with two hits and scored a run. Grand Prairie reliever Brett Wallach pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts to pickup his fourth win of the season. AirHogs closer Dakota Watts struck out two batters in the ninth to collect his 21st save.

The game between Sioux Falls and Winnipeg was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, August 22 beginning at 5:00 PM.

The game between Kansas City and Gary SouthShore was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, August 22 beginning at 6:10 PM.
