Wichita 5, Winnipeg 3 (Game 3 – Wichita leads series, 2-1)
The Wichita Wingnuts scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to rally from a 3-2 deficit and beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes in game three by the score of 5-3. Wichita now leads the series, 2-1, and can capture the 2017 American Association title with a victory in game four.
The Wingnuts collected 11 hits in the contest and was led by 1B Brent Clevlen who went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Wichita leadoff hitter Christian Stringer plated two runs in a 2-for-5 night while 3B T.J. Mittelstaedt added two hits and two runs batted in.
Wingnuts pitcher Josh Goossen-Brown tossed a scoreless seventh inning to notch the victory. Goossen-Brown picked-up a strikeout in the three batters that he faced.
For Winnipeg in the losing effort, CF Reggie Abercrombie went 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Game four of the best-of-five championship series is Monday night at Shaw Park in Winnipeg. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
