Wichita 11, Gary SouthShore 3 (Game 3 – Wichita wins series, 3-0) – Box

The Wichita Wingnuts scored six runs in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead and would cruise from there to an 11-3 series clinching victory over Gary SouthShore. Wichita pounded out 15 hits in the contest with three players having multi-hit games. Wingnuts C Martin Medina went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI while RF Richard Prigatano added three hits of his own, including two triples, a run and four RBI. Left fielder Brennen Salgado also chipped in three hits and three runs batted in for Wichita.

Wingnuts starting pitcher Eddie Medina allowed two earned runs over six innings pitched to nab the win. Medina gave up a walk and six hits to go along with two strikeouts.

For Gary SouthShore in the losing effort, C Wilfredo Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and a run batted in.

Wichita now moves on to the league championship series for the second straight season where they will take on the winner of the other semifinal between the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Winnipeg Goldeyes.


Winnipeg 6, Lincoln 2 (Game 3 – Winnipeg leads series, 2-1) – Box

Winnipeg jumped out to a fast start as they scored three runs in the first inning to grab an early lead and would go on from there to a 6-2 victory over Lincoln in game three of the best-of-five semifinals. The Goldeyes collected 11 hits as a team, four of which came off the bat of RF David Rohm, who went 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Winnipeg LF Josh Romanski and 3B Wes Darvill each contributed a pair of hits while leadoff hitter Casey Turgeon drew two walks, scored a run and drove in one.

Goldeyes starting pitcher Charle Rosario struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work to notch his first postseason victory. Rosario allowed two earned runs on four hits with two walks.

For the Saltdogs, CF Joe Robbins went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Game four of the series will be back at Shaw Park in Winnipeg beginning at 4:05 PM.
