Wichita 8, Fargo-Moorhead 2 Box

The Wichita Winguts, with RBI’s from five different batters, defeated Fargo-Moorhead 8-2  on Thursday. The Winguts put four runs on the board in the top of the first. In the inning, CF Jayce Ray and LF Brent Dean each had one RBI-single.  In the third inning,  RedHawks 2B Zach Penprase made the score 4-1 with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Wichita padded its lead with three more runs in the fifth – an RBI-single by 1B Dustin Geiger and a two-RBI double by DH Taylor Oldham. Winguts RHP Tim Brown went seven innings, gave up only one run, and struck-out six RedHawk batters.  Fargo-Moorhead had eight hits in the game, but had five errors.

 

Gary SouthShore 12, Ottawa 8 Box

Gary SouthShore used a huge fifth inning to take down Ottawa 12-8 in an entertaining interleague matchup. RailCats DH JD Pulfer hit a two-RBI single in the top of the first inning to give Gary an early 2-0 lead.  However, Ottawa quickly tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom half thanks to an RBI-triple by CF Sebastien Boucher and sacrifice fly by 1B Jon Talley.

Later, with the score tied 4-4 in the fifth inning, the RailCats exploded with eight runs in the fifth inning. The inning included an RBI-single by LF Adam Taylor, C Derek Smith, SS Ryan Brockett and Pulfer. Champions DH Mike Scwartz hit a three-run homer to make the score 12-7 in the sixth and RF Chris Winder had an RBI-single in the eighth to make it 12-8, but Ottawa could never fully recover.

 

Amarillo 6, Kansas City 6 (top of the eighth-suspended) 

The Game between Amarillo and Kansas City was suspended in the eighth inning with the score tied 6-6. The game will be completed on Friday, June 5 beginning at 5:30 p.m CST. Game two of the series will start as scheduled, at 7:05 p.m. CST.
