Teter Keeps on Slugging, Rodriguez Shuts it Down in August

Chicago Dogs infielder Jacob Teter and Milwaukee Milkmen starter Sebastian Rodriguez won the American Association’s Rawlings batter and pitcher of the month for August, the league announced Sunday.

With two games left in the regular season, Teter has given himself a chance to compete for the triple-crown.

In the month of August, the slugger hit .425 in the leadoff spot (45-for-106) with 13 doubles, nine home runs, 27 runs batted in and a whopping 1.340 OPS.

Teter had two multi-homer games in August, including on Saturday in the Dogs’ 10-0 win in Gary to pull within one homer of Lake Country’s Ryan Hernandez on the season.

On the pitching side, Rodriguez was lights out in August, finishing with the best ERA among pitchers in the league at 1.29.

The right-hander made five starts and went 4-0. He pitched 35 total innings with just five earned runs, eight walks and he struck out 38 batters.

His highlight of the month came on August 11th on the road against the playoff-bound Canaries, when he pitched a three-hit shutout while striking out nine.

Potentially done for the season with Milwaukee being eliminated, Rodriguez’ final month brought his ERA down to 3.71 with an 11-4 record and 95 strikeouts in his 114 innings pitched.

Rawlings is the official baseball of the American Association.
