Durham, N.C. — The American Association announced on Tuesday that the contract of St. Paul Saints OF Carlo Testa was purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization. Testa was acquired by the Saints in September after spending the 2014 season with Wichita.
Appearing in all 100 of the Wingnuts’ games, Testa had a dynamite season for the league champions, hitting .338 with 58 RBI, 10 home runs, 9 triples (second-best in the league), and 79 runs scored (fourth in the league).
It was the first season in Wichita for the native of Tallmadge, Ohio, having spent most of 2013 with Traverse City of the Frontier League after starting the year in the Kansas City Royals’ organization. He had also spent the previous five seasons in the Royals’ system after being chosen in the 18th round of the 2008 draft out of Belmont University.
Testa is the second member of the 2014 Wingnuts’ squad to be picked up by an affiliated organization this off-season; RHP Chris Peacock was signed by Pittsburgh in October.
