T-BONES’ LENIK IS 1/2 OF PAIR SOLD TO MAJOR LEAGUE ORGANIZATIONS FRIDAY

MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Kansas City T-Bones have sold the contract of RHP Kevin Lenik to the Boston Red Sox organization, the American Association announced Friday, May 31. Lenik is the 22nd American Association player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization in 2019, and the 42nd since the start of the 2018 season.

Lenik signed with the T-Bones on May 12, after beginning the year with the Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA) in the Kansas City Royals’ organization. Lenik gave up two earned runs while striking out five in three innings of work with the T-Bones this season.

Lenik began his professional career in 2016 with the Spokane Indians (A-) in the Texas Rangers organization after going undrafted out of college. In 2017 Lenik reached Triple-A with the Royals’ organization where he posted a 1.88 ERA in 24 innings of work. The righty spent 2018 with Kansas City’s Triple-A club as well, posting a 4.93 ERA in 49.1 innings of work. Lenik is one of two T-Bones’ pitchers to be sold today.
