DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that St. Paul Saints LHP Kramer Sneed (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 28.
Sneed made two strong starts this week, picking up victories against the Sioux City Explorers and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. On Tuesday, he faced the Explorers at CHS Field in St. Paul, Minn. The southpaw worked eight innings, allowing a pair of unearned runs on five hits, no walks and two strikeouts. St. Paul took the game by a 5-4 final. Sneed took the mound again on Sunday in Fargo, N.D. to face the RedHawks. Over six innings, the Raleigh, N.C. resident allowed one run on four hits while striking out six. St. Paul took the win 5-2.
On the season, Sneed, the former Barton College player, is now an impressive 6-1 with a 2.17 ERA in eight starts. Over 49.2 innings, he has struck out 30 and walked 18.
This is Sneed’s first season in the American Association after five seasons in the New York Yankees’ and Los Angeles Angles’ organizations. He was drafted by New York in the 32nd round in 2010, and reached as high as Class A Advanced Tampa before coming over to the Angels. There, his highest level was Class AA Arkansas in the Texas League.
The impressive Saints are now 29-7 and have not lost a series all year. They open a set at the Lincoln Saltdogs on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Central time at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Neb. The series will be available live and for free at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
