SMITH TAKES HOME PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD

MOORHEAD, MN.- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs’ IF Curt Smith has been named the league’s Rawlings Player of the Month for the month of August.

Smith is now batting .318 on the season after a hot month of August that included four home runs, 22 RBIs, and a .017 raise in batting average. The Netherlands native’s performance of the month came in an 8-1 win over the Texas AirHogs on August 17. In the game, Smith went 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBIs, and three runs scored.  

The 31-year-old began his professional career in 2008 after being drafted in the 39th round of the MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Smith is currently in his sixth stint with the Lincoln Saltdogs, he has spent the last four seasons with the club.
