St. Paul 4, Winnipeg 0 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)- Box

RHP Jeff Shields (pictured) threw a seven-inning complete game shutout to propel the Saints to a sweep of the doubleheader. He struck out three and scattered five hits. Offensively, 3B Devin Thaut hit an RBI single in the third to score CF Jared McDonald. Both hitters had two hits apiece for St. Paul. In the fourth, 1B Angelo Songco hit an RBI double to score RF Evan Bigley. McDonald hit a two-RBI single in the sixth to give the Saints some breathing room.

Five hitters had one hit each for Winnipeg.

St. Paul 5, Winnipeg 2 (Doubleheader Game One- 7 innings)- Box 

The Saints scored five runs on only seven hits in the opener of a twinbill. St. Paul took a 2-2 game and plated three runs in the sixth inning to win. 1B Angelo Songco hit a one-out single, and LF Joe Bonfe singled following him. Up stepped C Jake Taylor, who hit a three-run home run to put the Saints in front for good. It was his second home run of the season.

Taylor was 2-for-3 in the game, and 3B Devin Thaut was 2-for-4 with St. Paul’s other two RBI.

RHP Drew Gay struck out a batter in five and 1/3 innings for the win for St. Paul. RHP Mikey Mehlich threw a perfect inning and 2/3 with two strikeouts for the save.

Lincoln 5, Trois-Rivieres 0- Box

The Saltdogs rode a dominant start from RHP Kevin McGovern to a shutout interleague road win. McGovern twirled a complete game shutout, scattering six hits and a walk and striking out seven.

Offensively, 1B Ian Gac was 4-for-5. He had a two-run double in a three-run third for the Saltdogs. Also in the inning, RF Brian Joynt hit a sacrifice fly to score C Chris Anderson. Joynt singled in the fifth and Gac followed with a double. Joynt scored the fourth run on a sacrifice fly by CF Matt Forgatch. Gac capped off the scoring with a solo home run in the seventh.

DH Chad Mozingo, 3B Luis Nunez and SS Mike Gilmartin had two hits each for the Saltdogs. For Trois-Rivieres, CF Steve Brown had two hits.

Amarillo 6, Quebec 5- Box

The Capitales scored two runs in the ninth to tie the interleague game, but PH Derek Perren hit a walk-off single to plate RF Geraldo Valentin. In the top of the ninth, SS Jonathan Malo hit an RBI fielder’s choice and scored on an error to help Quebec rally.

CF Sebastien Boucher, who went 4-for-5 for Quebec, opened the scoring with a two-RBI double in the second. Amarillo got on the board in the bottom of the second, scored twice more in the fourth and jumped ahead in the sixth when 3B Kyle Bellows had an RBI single and Valentin singled Bellows home.

RHP Tyler Hale won the game in relief for Amarillo. 

Laredo 5, Sioux Falls 4- Box

The Lemurs scored the winning run in the top of the ninth as they took their second straight game over the Canaries. LF J.P. Ramirez hit a two-out RBI single that scored C Carlos Ramirez in the ninth.

Earlier, Laredo got back-to-back home runs from 1B John Alonso and RF Byron Wiley in the second inning. Sioux Falls answered with long balls of their own in the third. CF Chris Valencia had a two-run home run in the bottom of the second and 2B Sam Lind followed with a solo shot. LF Brandon Jones had previously homered for the Canaries in the first.

Alonso hit an RBI double in the fourth and Martinez hit an RBI single to tie the game. Alonso was 2-for-4 on the contest.

3B Carlos Mendez was 3-for-4 for Sioux Falls. Valencia and Jones had two hits each.

All-Star RHP Tyler Pearson struck out four in two and 1/3 relief innings for the win. RHP Chad Povich struck out two in a perfect ninth for the save.

Kansas City 5, Sioux City 2- Box  

RHP Kyle DeVore struck out five in eight and 1/3 innings as the T-Bones won on the road. He only allowed three hits in the winning effort.

RF Ray Sadler and SS Vladamir Frias opened the scoring for Kansas City in the second by scoring on wild pitches. A third run scored on an error. CF Robby Kuzdale hit an RBI double in the fourth inning, scoring 1B Nick Schwaner. Kuzdale scored on a double from 3B T.J. Mittlestaedt.

LHP Kris Regas got the final two outs for the save.

Grand Prairie 5, Wichita 4- Box

LF Brian Myrow delivered the walk-off sacrifice fly for the AirHogs as they scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Wingnuts. In a game halted for one hour and 11 minutes in the fourth inning due to rain, 1B Jason Botts came up with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth. He drew a walk to tie the game at four, and Myrow won the game in the next at-bat.

Wichita had scored three runs in the eighth to take the lead and force the AirHogs to rally.

All-Star 3B Abel Nieves was 3-for-4 for Grand Prairie and Botts was 2-for-3. All-Star SS Ryan Khoury, 3B Chris McClendon and All-Star CF Brent Clevelen had two hits each for Wichita.

RHP Ty’Relle Harris struck out two in one and 2/3 innings for the relief win.
