Sensley’s Strong First Impression Earns him Batter of the Week

Lake Country DockHounds outfielder Steven Sensley and Milwaukee Milkmen starter Kyle Mora won the American Association’s Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 23, the league announced Monday.

Sensley has made quite the first impression in Lake Country after being acquired in a trade with the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the Atlantic league back on July 12th.

In just two games played this week after the all-star break, Sensley had four hits including three home runs against the Canaries, leading Lake Country to a series win.

Sensley drove in six runs with his four hits and also walked twice and scored four times. In six total games with Lake Country he’s drove in nine and is hitting .421.

The Louisiana native began his partner league career last season in the frontier league after spending four seasons in the New York Yankees organization. This is his first taste of American Association baseball.

On the pitching side, Mora had one of the best outings in the league this season, pitching a complete game shutout against Winnipeg in the first game of the second half for Milwaukee on Thursday.

Allowing just two hits across his full nine innings, Mora allowed just one walk and struck out four Goldeyes. On the season, Mora owns a 6-1 record with a 3.89 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched.

The California native is in his third stint with the Milkmen but first as a full-time member of the starting rotation. In 2021 he had a sub-2 era in the bullpen and then spent most of 2022 in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization before returning to Milwaukee.

Pointstreak is the official statistician of the American Association.
