Sierra led the way this week for Sioux City, finishing the week with eight hits and a .421 batting average. Sierra also hit two home runs, two doubles and a triple, driving in six runs on the week.
Sierra was an on base machine, drawing five walks in addition to his success at the plate and scoring six runs as well.
The Orlando native is in his second season after playing just 13 games last year with Sioux City. On the season Sierra is hitting .222 with three home runs, 14 RBI and 24 walks.
On the pitching side, Travis Seabrooke made two very solid starts for Winnipeg this week.
In two starts, Seabrooke pitched a total of 15 innings and allowed just two earned runs. The left-hander struck out 15 hitters as well while walking just two.
Seabrooke’s highlight of the week was one of the better starts in the American Association this season, pitching a complete game shutout against the Lincoln Saltdogs last Monday, striking out nine along the way. He followed that up with six innings of one run ball in Kansas City to get the win.
