Lincoln 5, Sioux City 4 – Box
Lincoln PH Jon Smith launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Saltdogs a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over the Sioux City Explorers. Left fielder Brandon Jacobs had a solid game for Lincoln going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI. Saltdogs 1B Curt Smith collected three hits and drove in three runs with RF Austin Darby scoring two runs and drawing a walk. Lincoln closer Evan Reed gave up a hit and two walks in 1 1/3 innings and picked up the victory. The win by the Saltdogs puts them back on top in the Central Division by a ½ game over the Explorers.
Kansas City 7, Laredo 3 – Box
Kansas City won their sixth game in a row as they defeated the Laredo Lemurs by the score of 7-3. The T-Bones picked up 12 hits in the contest with four batters having multi-hit games. Kansas City RF Starlin Rodriguez went 2-for-4 on the night with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. T-Bones 2B Brett Wiley scored a run and drove in two in a 2-for-3 game while C Steve Swingle added a double and a run scored. Kansas City pitcher Evan DeLuca threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball to take home the win. De Luca evened his record at 3-3 on the year.
Winnipeg 7, Wichita 4 – Box
The Winnipeg Goldeyes broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the fourth inning and added three more insurance runs in the fifth to defeat the Wichita Wingnuts, 7-4. Goldeyes 2B Casio Grider led the offensive attack going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBI. Winnipeg CF Reggie Abercrombie collected two hits, scored two runs and drove in one while DH Willie Cabrera plated a pair of runs in a 3-for-4 night. Goldeyes starter Mikey O’Brien threw seven solid innings in earning his ninth win of the year. O’Brien gave up two earned runs on seven hits and fanned four batters.
Joplin 4, Texas 2 – Box
The Joplin Blasters scored two runs in the seventh inning to take a 4-1 lead and that would be the difference in the game as they defeated Texas by a 4-2 final. Joplin SS Alex Polston went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while DH Edwin Gomez added three hits in four at-bats along with a run scored and a RBI. Blasters starting pitcher Alex De La Cruz tossed seven strong innings to notch his second win of the season. De La Cruz gave up an unearned run on five hits and struck out seven batters. For the AirHogs in defeat, LF Nick Akins went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
St. Paul 3, Sioux Falls 1 – Box
The St. Paul Saints jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings of play and would never look back as they beat the Sioux Falls Canaries, 3-1. St. Paul 3B Nate Hanson and CF Alonzo Harris led the way offensively as each had a pair of hits and a run scored. Saints LF Willie Argo also chipped in with a triple and scored a run. St. Paul starter Dan Johnson threw six shutout innings and picked up the victory. Johnson improved to 4-2 on the season as he gave up three walks and five hits while striking out six batters. Second baseman Darwin Perez had two hits and plated the only run for Sioux Falls in the loss.
Fargo-Moorhead 7, Gary SouthShore 2 – Box
Fargo-Moorhead rolled out to a 3-1 lead after an inning of play and would cruise from there to a 7-2 victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats. RedHawks 1B Dustin Geiger had a sensational game offensively going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI. Fargo-Moorhead RF Keury De La Cruz had two hits in four at-bats with a run scored while C Charlie Valerio drove in a pair of runs in a 1-for-3 game. RedHawks pitcher Tyler Alexander had a solid seven inning performance to nab his 10th win. Alexander gave up an earned run on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
