St. Paul 4, Sioux Falls 3- Box
The Saints knocked off the Canaries in an afternoon contest at Midway Stadium. With the score knotted at three in the bottom of the eighth, 2B Sam Maus drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a single from LF Willie Cabrera. 1B Angelo Songco singled to drive in Maus and give the Saints the lead.
Cabrera and Songco both had RBI singles in St. Paul’s three-run third. 3B Devin Thaut (pictured) hit an RBI double in the inning as well. Thaut, Maus, Cabrera and Songco all had two hits apiece for St. Paul. For Sioux Falls, CF Chris Valencia was 3-for-4.
St. Paul RHP Mikey Mehlich earned the win in relief. He did not allow a run in one and 1/3 innings. All-Star RHP Dan Sattler struck out a batter in a perfect ninth for his 15th save of the season.
