St. Paul 10, Cleburne 3- Box Score
The St. Paul Saints (28-23) slugged their way to a 10-3 win over the Cleburne Railroaders (17-32) on Wednesday afternoon.
The Saints hit their first of five doubles in the bottom of the second when Max Murphy cleared the bases with a two-bagger to give St. Paul a 3-1 lead. Murphy scored after the Railroaders walked three consecutive batters and would finish the game going 4-for-6 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
The lead grew to 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth when Dante Bichette Jr. hit an RBI single, Anthony Phillips hit an RBI double and Kyle Barrett hit an RBI single. Both teams scored two in the seventh and St. Paul scored one in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.
Saints’ starter, Eddie Medina (4-2), gave up just one earned run in five innings of work to secure the win, striking out a season-high eight batters in the process.
Fargo-Moorhead 8, Wichita 5- Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rallied in the top of the ninth to defeat the Wichita Wingnuts by a score of 8-5 on Wednesday.
The Wingnuts held a 5-2 lead when the RedHawks bats came alive in the top of the ninth. Leobaldo Pina led off the inning with a single and scored when Keury De La Cruz hit a two-run (6) in the next at-bat. Later in the inning, Brennan Metzger hit a two out single to tie the game. Then, Devan Ahart hit an RBI single to take the lead, and Charlie Valerio hit a two-run double to bring the game to its final score.
Reese Gregory (3-2) pitched three innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. Geoff Broussard pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save (1).
Sioux City 7, Chicago 2-Box Score
The Sioux City Explorers topped the Chicago Dogs 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Explorers took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Jay Austin in the top of the first and added another on a sacrifice fly by Dexture McCall in the second. Michael Lang and Austin picked up back-to-back RBIs in the fifth to make it 4-0. In the sixth, the lead grew to 7-0 when Dylan Kelly hit a two-run double before scoring on a Daniel Jackson sacrifice fly. The Dogs scored two in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.
Sioux City’s starter James Dykstra lasted just one inning due to injury. Ryan Flores (5-1) took over and pitched five scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
