REDHAWKS EDGE T-BONES IN 11 INNINGS

Fargo-Moorhead 5, Kansas City 3 – 11 Innings Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took advantage of a pair of miscues in the top of the 11th inning and shut down the Kansas City T-Bones in the bottom of the inning to claim a 5-3 win.

RF Joe Dunigan started the inning on base per rule and advanced to third on a balk and then scored on an error. 1B Taylor Oldham who reached on that first error scored on another miscue later in the inning to give the RedHawks a two-run lead. DH Kyle Robinson singled for the T-Bones in the bottom of the 11th but Kansas City couldn’t scratch out a run.

For the night, CF Drew Muren and Dunigan each had two hits and C Charlie Valerio had a pair of RBI. For the T-Bones, LF Adam Bailey went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in the sixth.

 

Laredo 2, Grand Prairie 0  — Box Score

The Laredo Lemurs shutout the Grand Prairie AirHogs 2-0 to claim the three-game series.

The game was tied for seven innings before the Lemurs broke through in the top of the eighth. 3B Juan Silverio hit a lead-off triple in the eighth and then scored when 2B Jeudy Valdez singled. Silverio and Valdez were the only players in the game to have two hits. In the top of the ninth, Laredo doubled up their lead as CF Dvontrey Richardson scored on a single by 1B Dustin Geiger.

Reliever Ryan Beckman earned the win for working two hitless innings and reliever John Brebbia picked up his 14th save of the season by closing things out in the ninth.

 

St. Paul 7, Winnipeg 1 Box Score

The St. Paul Saints recorded their tenth win in a row on Monday night as they dropped the Winnipeg Goldeyes 7-1.

The Saints took the lead in the fourth inning as DH Ryan Lashley came up with the bases loaded and cleared them with a double. In the top of the seventh, CF Reggie Abercrombie scored on a double by 2B Brad Boyer but the Saints added three more runs in the bottom of the frame – CF Alonzo Harris doubled home two runs and scored on an error. Lashley scored on a sac fly in the eighth for an extra insurance run.

Starter Robert Coe went 7.1 innings on the mound to record the win. He allowed one run on three hits and had five strikeouts.

 

Joplin 4, Wichita 2  — Box Score

The Joplin Blasters took care of the Wichita Wingnuts 4-2 with the help of two home runs from DH Jake Taylor.

The Blasters broke through in the fourth when 2B Omar Luna scored on a sacrifice fly by LF Mitch Glasser. The Wingnuts responded in the fifth with a double by SS Luis Hernandez that scored RF David Espinosa and CF Jayce Ray. Taylor hit the first of his two blasts in the top of the sixth – a two-run shot – to give the Blasters the lead back. He left the yard again in the eighth to give Joplin the 4-2 lead.

Starting pitcher Luis Chirinos was tabbed as the winner for working five innings and allowing two runs on five hits. Releiver Winston Abreu picked up the save for shutting the down in the ninth.

 

Sioux City 5, Sioux Falls 2  — Box Score

Sioux City DH Brock Kjeldgaard set the tone early with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning and the Explorers went on to beat the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-2.

After Kjeldgaard’s shot in the first, the Canaries tied thins up in the second with a solo shot by DH Brian Humphries and an RBI put out by 3B Angel Chavez that plated RF Jason Repko. Kjeldgaard singled home RF Brent Keys to give the Explorers the lead back in the third inning. In the fourth inning 2B Ryan Court hit a lead-off home run and then in the fifth he singled to score keys. 1B Rene Tosoni had a game-high three hits.

For tossing seven innings, starter Ryan Zimmerman earned the win as he gave up two runs on five hits while striking out six batters.

 

Gary SouthShore 7, Lincoln 5  — Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored four runs in the third inning and never trailed again as they topped the Lincoln Saltdogs 7-5.

DH Jose Sermo, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, hit a three-RBI triple in the third and he scored on a triple from Brandon Thomas. Thomas went 3-for-3 on the night. RF Drew Martinez and 1B J.D. Pulfer also had strong nights at the plate for the RailCats as Pulfer had two hits and Martinez had a pair of RBI.

For the Saltdogs, CF Matt Forgatch and RF Brian Joynt each had two hits and an RBI.

 

Rockland 9, Amarillo 1  — Box Score

The Rockland Boulders came out strong and put up four runs in the top of the first inning and went on to beat the Amarillo Thunderheads 9-1.

Amarillo scored a run in the bottom of the first when Dexter Kjerstad drew a bases-loaded walk but that would be the Thunderheads’ only run of the night. Offensively for the Boulders, five different batters had two-hit games including Marcus Nidiffer who went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Both Giuseppe Papccio and Jared McDonald each had two hits and an RBI.
