Cleburne 6, Sioux Falls 1 – Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders (46-40) took the first game of their series with the Sioux Falls Canaries 6-1 on Monday night at home.

The Railroaders took the lead in the bottom of the third inning as 1B Colton Pogue (3-for-4) tripled home RF Hunter Clanin and then scored on a sac fly from 2B Alay Lago. In the next frame, CF Zach Nehrir lifted sacrifice fly that scored DH Ramon Hernandez (2-for-4) to push the lead to 3-0. In the seventh, Lago, SS Osvaldo Martinez and Hernandez hit back-to-back-to-back RBI singles that doubled the lead.

The Canaries were held scoreless until the top of the ninth inning when C Shamoy Christopher (2-for-4) singled to score LF Mike Hart.

The win leaves the Railroaders just a half game behind Lincoln in second place in the South Division and 1.5 games clear of Sioux City for the final wild card spot.

 

Chicago 11, Lincoln 4 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs (55-32) earned their fifth win in a row as they topped the Lincoln Saltdogs 11-4 on Monday at Impact Field.

The Dogs saw hits from eight different batters and five of them had multi-hit games. LF Brennan Metzger went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and was just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. 3B T.J. Bennett was also a triple short of the cycle and went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. DH Michael Crouse, RF Danny Mars and SS Harrison Smith all added a pair of hits including Crouse’s 13th homer of the season.

For the Saltdogs, SS Josh Altmann and CF Edgar Corcino each had two hits including one home run.
