Independent Baseball Insider – Vol. 12, No. 28, September 18, 2014
By Bob Wirz
Arizona outfielder David Peralta (Wichita 2012, Amarillo 2013), who has to be the star among first time Independent grads in the majors this season (although Pittsburgh strikeout whiz John Holdzkom [Sioux City 2013, Amarillo 2013-14] is making a late run), seems likely to end nearly two weeks of idleness (back injury) any day, but some others are finished for the season, including Kansas City hurler Luke Hochevar (Fort Worth 2006) and Texas RHP Tanner Scheppers (St. Paul 2009). Hochevar has started throwing in his comeback from elbow surgery with a spring target date.
Peralta, often hitting third for the Diamondbacks, is at .293 with a .326 on-base percentage, seven homers and 34 runs batted in.
